Ack. I am stuck. For the last 2 weeks my weight has been going back and forth from 177 to 179. I'm eating good healthy food, and I know everyone has a plateau sooner or later. I am 4 months post op, have lost 3 stone but now scale is not moving. Any hints or tips? I will try getting more exercise, but my Pilates classes have stopped for the summer, and it's so frustrating. I have good restriction, so it's not that. Help!:break_diet::break_diet:

try drinking more water as thirst is often mistaken for hunger, give it a try it may help x

good luck x

Hi hun sorry you have reached a plateau. They are normal and do happen in the weightloss surgery journey. Here are a few tips to help:

1. Increase your low-cal fluid intake, dehydration can make weight loss stall.
2. Take a look at the nutritional value of what you are eating, do you eat simple carbs everyday? Consider trimming them and increasing your protein. Sometimes small changes in your diet is just what you need.
3. Are you skipping meals (3 meals per day plus 1 healthy snack is recommended)? If you are, simply make sure that you eat 3 meals per day, it is important for your metabolism.
4. Are you grazing(6-8 meals per day) and maybe fitting in too many calories? It is okay metabolically to eat 6-8 very small meals but you must make sure that all of your meals do not equal more than you would eat as 3 meals + a snack.
5. Can you increase your activity? This can be a simple walk daily around your house or maybe an exercise video or taking the stairs insteed of the lift at work/school etc. Sometimes a bit of extra exercise is all your body needs to start weight loss again.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I already do drink a lot of water. With T2 diabetes I got used to really guzzling water. Most days I have 2 proper meals (not a breakfast eater. I am just not hungry in the morning) and a snack or 2. I try to get the protein in first but I'm not lo carbing. Thanks phatgirl for all the links. I'm not too fussed as I know that pretty much everyone hits a plateau sooner or later. I know ramping up the exercise will do it, so I'll work on that. It's just frustrating seeing the scales move for 4 months and then, when you're still doing things right you hit a stall.

Hi Ditsy

I'd try eating some breakfast. like yourself i was never a big breakfast eater, but missing a meal will make your body crave food midday and your more likely to gorge on unhealthier choices because your bodies craving calories !
As the others have said try changing your exercise pattern, increase your protein intake and reduce basic carbs like bread, pasta, white rice etc.
Plateaus are a part of any diet and everyone will encounter one at some point, main thing is to not panic and just dig in, eventually you will start to lose weight again.

Hope you get the weight moving again. Its a real downer when this happens and you feel like your not doing things right. It happens though as many on here will tell you and then a simple change in life style will start it off again. I can't advise you as I'm a bander but I'm sure there will be loads of lovely peeps who can.

hi, you have been given some fab advice, but more recently i was told to eat breakie within 1 hour of getting up and make sure i eat every 3 - 4 hours and i have found that has helped me loads. i know how fustrating it is i had the same 4lbs come and go for a month! good luck xx
