Hi, has anyone with a band had that port flip? Did U have to have surgery to correct it? Thanks xx

Yes there are people who have had that happen - some have had surgery to move it whilst others have still been able to have fills etc.

Being nosey, why do you ask? x

Me and my mum hadgastric bands at the same time, im due for my 2nd fill next Fri but my mun hasn't been able to have one. She's just gone to Dolan park they've said her port has conpletly flipped over. She has to have surgery next week they said x

My port didn't flip but I had to have a second procedure on it.

In and out in a couple of hours and I had it under a local anaesthetic.

It's not the best news, but not the end of the world :(

Cool thanks!
It'll take longer to get to Dolan park than the actual procedure!
I think she's glad to know why they haven't been able to fill. X

My consultant puts the port on your breast bone so that it can't flip, don't really understand why they aren't all done like this if it solves the problem :/

My port had flipped by the time it came to my first fill and had to have it repositioned and stitched and please to say it was done approximately 4 weeks after I went for first fill (so 10 weeks after being banded) and not had any problems since x

My surgeon said not all surgeons have always stitched them in place and some don't do enough stitches to properly secure it.

Hi hope you dont mind me jumping on your thread!? How would you know if your port has flipped? I'm due my first fill next week, I get a funny feeling (a little uncomfy) when I bend forward or sit leaning to my left where the port is. I can also feel my port- it feels like a button under my skin, is this normal??
