hi guys,

now swelling has gone down a bit i can feel my port. not just through my skin but you know i'm very aware of it, like something is digging in my ribs. is that normal?

Hi Julia, well I started to be aware of my port after I had lost a few stone - mine is on my sternum. It felt really weird and for a while I was worried it could be a sinister lump. I'm used to it now but when I prod it I can feel it and it feels a bit odd. I can't help but prod it, it's human nature I guess. x

I was always aware of my port - it stuck out from Day 1, and was often sore. It is common to be aware of your port, but after a couple of months post op it shouldn't feel uncomfortable unless you are unlucky like me.

Hi Julia i'm very aware of my port it's still very tender to touch,I was told by the nurse it will take six week's to heal so i'm hoping that once it heals it will not feel so uncomfortable.

Yep its normal Julia, dont worry about it. The discomfort soon goes although you will always be aware its there.

I can feel mine but it doesn't hurt...that said it does feel like it's dragging when I lie on my left side but the bariatric nurse said that it's probably stitched in really tight (had it replaced 6 weeks ago as the first one flipped) and could take up to 12 weeks to settle down.

I'm always running my hand over it

yep its normal im also still aware of mine, more so if i have lay on it the wrong way in my sleep.

excellent, thanks everyone
