Pouch size

do we all have the same size pouch?

how do we know if we stretch or split the staples?

just wondering.................

No we don't, I watched fat doctor and Shaw summers says everyones pouch is personal to them, but it's generally about the size of an egg. The length of bypassed intestine is also tailored to the individual. A big bloke of 6'2" will have a different size from a 5' woman. However, the length of bypassed intestine is approx 1-1.2m
If you popped your staples it would probably happen in the first few days and you would suffer a high temp and a sharp spike in pain.
I don't know how you would tell if you stretch your pouch except by the volume of food you can consume.

when i was speakin to the biatric clinic the other week the lady said look at your thumb... that is the size of your pouch. but then i was a but hallucagenic at the time as i was poorly... so not sure if she meant the top of your thumb or the size of your thumb... interesting question though x

not very big at all do you still have 3 meals a day after opp ? i know it will only be 1 mouthful but just wondering x

my dietcian expects me to eat up 6times a day and surgeon doesnt want me to consume food after 7pm to get best results,iv had to teach myself to now eat breakfast as never used to bother ,i know it will be very small quantities xx

mine says 3 meals and two snacks if required - but not what size which is where i am getting confused - seeing them end of week so will know more then

i have 3 meals a day... breakfast lunch and dinner... my diet sheet says a milk drink mid day, a yogurt mid afternoon and a milk drink in the evening... but i have cut out the morning milk drink... mid afternoon i have a couple of bites of banana and i have my milk drink..usually a hot chocolate in the evening. x

Didn't know that about 7p.m. I'm going to try and do that as I'm a night time nibbler !

You can eat more than a mouthful. I can manage 3/4 weetabix as it's quite stodgy. Or 200ml Soup. Or about 50g meat and a few veggies. Or 2 clementines or a small banana. That is roughly the amount in a meal. Some a little more, some a little less.

My surgeon said my new pouch is approx 30 mls, a teaspoon is 5 mls, the size of my thumb from tip to base. I never feel hungry though so the amount I can eat is not important. x
