Pre-op before given date of op?

Hi all, just checking that this is normal practice as it seems a bit odd to be having a pre op done not knowing when the actual op is?
I've mine on the 13th and then seeing anaesthetist on the 18th.
Just checking that I've not missed something

It wouldn't matter what procedure you are having. The pre-op is for blood tests, MRSA swabs, ECG and weight stats. It's just to make sure you are fine to go ahead with whatever surgery you have. However, in my experience the pre- op has been done a week before my op so it's odd you don't have a date. Give them a call in the morning to double-check xx

I had my pre op before my op as they needed the results but all happened quickly

Agghhhh lol

I've got shingles at the mo which can last up to 5 wks - am not sure if they'll postpone based on that.
So excited and very nervous!!

Im having different surgery but ive had my pre op but no date as of yet for surgery. If it helps i was told pre op results only last 12 weeks so op has to be done with 12 weeks of having pre op other wise they have to do them again x

I'm lead to believe that a pre-op lasts up to 3months max ( i had a pre-op in feb with view for op in april ...never happend ), well it does at salford royal
Hope this puts your worries at rest

I had my pre-op 2nd Jan didnt have op until 14th May every Hosp diff xx

i had my pre op on 28th may and still dont have a date they have said they think beginning of august so it looks like a lot of hospitals do it before hun x

thanks i hate the waiting but i suppose we all have to wait and it will all be worth it in the end x
