Pre op diets vary from provider too provider, but its not different in the sense banders have to do a different diet, I.E. a soon 2 be bander may have to do say the milk diet, the same as a soon 2 be bypasser may have to do . Your provider will let u know which plan u have to follow so dont worry on that score. HTH xxx

:cry:I havent heard a dickey bird from my provider?? I suppose I should ring them shouldnt I - bit odd not having anything from them isnt it - only 2 weeks to go until banded

Did they not tell you how long they expected you to do the pre op diet for prior to surgery ???

no but im going private - does that make a difference? Oops I feel really stupid now. I got a sheet telling me about price and how to pay (of course) and a sheet telling me how to eat after surgery, a pre-surgery questionnaire that I have to fill in and return and thats it

I'm having my band on Friday and will have been doing the milk diet for 10 days had my pre op on Monday? But they told me about pre op diet 6 months ago?? I would give them a ring just to be sure xx good luck xx

They should still tell you about the pre-op diet hun and which plan they expect you to follow and how long for. Give em a call and ask them what their procedure is, it may be that you only have to do it for a week perhaps and u have just under 3 weeks till your op. It could be on its way in the mail soon xxx

On your pre assessment you should see the Specialist Nurse, The Consultant, The Dietician, An Anaesthetist and a Diabetic specialist if you are diabetic. As for the diet, at Bournemouth everyone gets the same sheet, as the aim is to help you lose some weight pre op, but to shrink the liver out of the way so the surgeon can do his work. If it's too big they will stop the operation. I actually ended up doing 4 weeks on the milk diet as the messed up my details and cancelled my op 20 minutes before I was due to go down to theatre. So it was 2 x 2 weeks on milk and OXO cubes. I hope they give you some info soon, but keep on at them if they are hanging around. Good Luck. Bob. xx

:fingerscrossed: Ive emailed the company and Ive emailed Maura who lives in NI and she went to Dr Chris de Bryune so hopefully Ill get some info shortly. Crappity crap crap crap. Thanks guys

Hi

I was private too and had to diet for at least 5 days prior to the op. I was advised to have 3 (4 if needed) slim fast a day with fruit.

Each surgeon / provider will have their preferred diet if any at all.

I hope you get to hear which one yours is soon x

They've emailed me back to say "the surgeon requests that you adopt a low fat diet two weeks before surgery. A low fat diet involves lots of white meats, salads, vegetables and water. If you smoke or drink you should not smoke or drink from now.". Soooo no milky diet for me just low fat. But I think I will buy some slim fast shakes and do a lot of smoothies just like I've read you guys doing. Not much info but at least I know now. Just a few more days left of my old life - bring it on I'm ready.
