Pre op diet pains

Beyondtheoutside

New Member
Hello all I am very new to this. I am 4 days into my Diet and struggling a bit. I ate all of my favorite things and then started my diet!!!! Not the best thing to do.... I took myself to the movies and immediately walked up to the counter and ordered popcorn before I realized I couldn't have it. Well but of course I ate it any way. It made me really look at how everything that I do will have to change. Especially being from the south where EVERYTHING is centered around food..... Any advice is greatly appreciated

Hi

I've a while until I start my pre-op diet but I think when it comes to it I'm going to have to be blunt with myself. If I don't follow it, my op will be cancelled. My surgeon recently cancelled two weeks worth of operations as the patients hadn't followed the pre-op.

You need to remind yourself it's been known for surgeon to open someone up, take one look at their liver and stitch them straight back up again.

Beyond that, I'm clueless.

Sorry I can't be of more help x x

The pre op diet is tough. No doubt about it. It is the one time where you really really do not want to f*ck things up and stick to the rules 100% because so much is at stake.

Further down the line, once you've had your op and you're a few months out, yes your relationship with food has to change and so does your lifestyle in order for this to work long term. But it is not like you can never have a treat or some of your favourite foods again. Just less in quantity and less often. Before my op I made myself sick with worry thinking I could never eat this or that again - now I know that's not true!

Also a lot of people's tastes change and they don't crave all the fatty things anymore (or less) they used to eat pre op.

i found it easy doing the milk diet for the 2 times that the hospital tried me on it ..............it was the refeed that messed me up

No one said that it would be easy they just said it would be SOOOOO worth it right? Thank you

I started my pre-op today. 3-4 slimfast products. Today hasn't been as bad as I thought although I'm quite hungry but it was my own fault - had my 'last' meal last night - a curry which stretched my stomach. DUH!!!!! Only another 3 weeks to go lol

It's not to bad. I had a brief lapse in willingness..... I am better now :) I an lucky I can have more than slim fast. Only 5 days to go :)

hang on in there. its worth it. i am doing the milk diet and i am actually feeling full, which even surprised me. best to do things to try and keep your mind occupied. i am paying privately for my op and it took 2 years to save - so i dont want to mess anything up. BEST OF LUCK! HANG ON IN THERE AND THINK POSITIVE ...

So close now!! Yipppeeeeeee

Having read your post elsewhere about being in Tennessee, I now understand your comment up there ^^^^ about being from the South and everything being centred around food.

I live on the south coast of England and besides fish and chips there's not much of a foody culture going on here (but then that could be because the average age in the town where I live is probaby 90 and there's a 'pre-chewed' option on every menu!! (ok, I made that up!!))
