pre op info

Hi can anyone tell me about what to expect from the pre-op of a gastric bypass?. i have heard about the pre-op of a band, is it the same?. i will get my date next tme iam at the hospital, and then have to have a camera put down, but not sure on the pre-op diet.

Hi Alison x I think you will probably find the pre-op bit is the same across the board whatever op you have.
The difference is what your provider likes to use for preference, and then also I think some allow a variance of which diet if you can't get on too well with the intial suggestion.
I was given a low cal low fat diet to follow and it was quite strict. I was only on it for just under a fortnight but I lost about 8lbs on it

Can I clarify? Do you have to have a camera down your throat as part of the pre-op?

The camera is usually a separate procedure to pre op in Sunderland. Unsure at other pct's sorry x

Hi Hun

I recently completed a successful pre-op diet pre bypass op.

The purpose of the diet is not weight loss per se, though this is a bonus, but to shrink your liver which makes the whole operation safer.

Hi ruth, at sunderland u have to have a camera down first thats what i was told but some maybe different.
