Pre -Op on Wednesday

Hi,

I have my pre -op on Wednesday (Bournemouth)and am a bit worried as I have not lost any weight since I saw the dietician last month.

I have also had a horrid week at work. One of my "friends" found out about my bypass from another friend (I'm not keeping it a sercet just talking to those who I think should know) and spent 90 mins telling me that I was ruining my life, would never be able to socialise again, and that I should not go ahead with this.

Now I could cope with this, but during this conversation, a very close friend said that she would find it difficult to go out with me shopping, etc. as I would not be up for a coffee and cream cake, and she would feel uncomfortable eating in front of me. I didn't know what to say :(

:sigh:

My dear I think that's a friend you can do without..

aw purple , sounds like u having crap week. i hope this week better for you . ya friend cant be that good friend if she says that. jealous maybe. as for the pre asss i would tryn get on the milk diet tomoz as if you havnt lost wieght they may think you not trying 3 days on milk diet will lose youa few pounds. in sunderland royal hossie they are so strict would cancel op if no weight loss. cant speak for your hossie but would deffo try milk diet as you got thi far would be horrendous for them to send you away ... tc xx

Aw shame, im in there Tuesday to see Mr Davies.
Hate to think how much he will ask me to lose :(
Some friends have no idea what life is like when you are carrying another person around with you!

As for the one who would feel she could not eat with you she would get some idea of what its like to be fat and try to eat in public with strangers passing coments and giggling!!!!

Head up and on with the journey xxxxx

oh honey i really feel for you :( its ok for your friend to say she thinks you shouldnt do it, its her opinion after all, i have people say that to me all the time, unless you are like us then you dont understand. But she must also accept your decision. As for your friend that doesnt want to go shopping with you because you cant have a cream cake!! hahaha charming, she just wont be able to handle the fact that you will be buying lovely slim clothes, some people only want to be your friend because you make them look better. Well tell her to spin!! You know you're doing the right thing honey and you have all the support in the world on here, we are all here for you. Chin up cherry drop!

The sad thing about wls is it shows you which of your friends you can genuinely count on, those that are threatened by the thinner you and this that weren't really there for you at all in the first place which can be really tough.
As for Rhiannon I can't say from
personal experience what she'll say as I had managed to lose in the run up to my pre-op. But she doesn't seem to bad to me & part of the reason we have the surgery is the fact we struggle to or just can't lose weight so all I can suggest is you focus for the next couple of days on eating healthily & if you can manage it to exercise a bit & hope that she & Mr Davies aren't as strict as some other hospitals.
Good luck to you both it's the best thing that's happened to me & Bournemouth is a great place to start the journey. If your really worried email or phone Lyndsay & she can allay your fears I hope.

Hi,

Thanks for all your kind words - very much appreciated.

I had my pre - op and everything went well.

I am now on day one of the milk diet and so far so good.

My friend - well we have had a bit of a falling out, my fault. I have apologised so just need to wait and see now.

Thanks again.

xx
