Protein bars - any recommendations

Hi all,

I want to start exercising now and will need an extra meal, I thought that a protein bar should be a good choice, any suggestions as to which ones would be recommended? I'd like something that tastes quite nice too as the amount that I now eat is so small I like to enjoy what I am having.

The Atkins ones are ok. Generally it's about following the same rules as shakes, atleast 20g protein and no more than 2g carbs per bar. Most bars are high carbs, so it's tricky to find low carb ones! Boots sell a good range individually so you can try a few. Just don't expect any of them to taste like dairy milk and you'll be fine!

The ones I use are high in carbs too unfortunately but I do alot of exercise now so doesn't really affect me. I use the CNP Flapjack bars have 24g of protein but 46g carbs but the Lonsdale ones are better, 30.1g protein against 12.7g carbs for a 70g bar. There just used to be Orange and Mint but now they have Strawberry and cream and Chocolate fudge and can get them from Sports Direct.

I used a one on offer at £1.37 from Holland and Barrett which had 31g protein in it, it was plesant enough but could not manage a whole one.
I like cooking so am going to work on a recipe of my own using a protein supplement.

If you look in the recipe section nic (phatgirl) has invented and adapted some recipes for high protein bars and biscuits, and even cakes. All low sugar and jammed full of protein. And yummy.

Thanks all, you've been a brilliant help, I'll buy some as well as try cooking them. I'll let you know how I get on, hopefully the cooking may begin tomorrow.
