Protein intake weight loss

Yes and no. Protein is denser than carbs so for the same amount of calories it will fill you up more. Equally, your post op body requires a larger amount of protein as you will not process and absorb all of it. Lastly, without protein your body cannot maintain your muscle mass and it will lose that instead of fat.

I am so confused with all this protein carb sugar and fat balance...... I didnt realise I was so clueless before I started this journey! Obv I wouldnt be having to have op if I knew what I was supposed to be doing.

Really worried now in case I get it all wrong after the op. I have got some recipes in a folder I have created and done some research but I think it has made me more confused lol xx

The hospital should give you guidelines and apps like myprotein can help. I follow the slimming world plan, but on my plate I go for 1/2 protein based food, 1/4 veg and 1/4 carb. snacks should have some protein eg, fruit and greek yoghurt, boiled egg, chunk of cheese etc. And get 2 litres fluid.

I use the myprotein when I fancy one, but I don't have them every day.
