Protein shake or supplement

Hello just wondering if anyone takes a Protein shake or supplement If so what kinds the best?
Thanks

Hi I asked this question a few weeks back and one of the ones that was recommended was MyProtein. I found the strawberry, chocolate and vanilla flavours were the ones I liked best there are a variety of others to try and Myprotein offer samples at 99p each. In the end I went for a tub of unflavoured from Holland and Barrett in their recent offer thinking I can then add it to soups etc without a problem and then just add a low sugar choc drink mix to the concoction if I wanted a flavoured protein shake or just a tsp of Vanilla extract to make my own flavours as the mood takes me rather than have a load of different tubs that may never get used as none of them are exactly cheap. Hope that helps and no doubt there will be many others offering their favourites on here before long. Penny

P.S. Of the ones I tried they all tasted very sweet with cows milk but I then tried them with unsweetened soya milk and they were much more palletable although the soya milk on its own wasn't as nice as a glass of cold cows milk. But the soya milk is a lot higher in protein than cows milk and lower in fat as well. You may think it is worth a try as well.

Although still pre-op, I have gone back to body building to burn off the calories. I use a brand called Nutrisport 90+. I use it because, compared to many others, it is low in fat, low in carbs and high in protein and low in calories. It will mix with water or milk.

I buy mine from Ebay as I get it with free p+p. It comes in 5 flavours.

Many supplement suppliers will sell you a sample sachet so you can try before you buy.

Hope this helps.

If mixed with water, they mix down well. If mixed with milk, I would use a shaker as they tend to separate out if left. As for taste, a bit gritty, but not unpleasant. These are not going to taste like NAS Crusha. Most of these supplements are sold to body builders who burn through serious amounts of protein and for whom taste is not necessarily the arbiter for their choice of purchase. Get a few samples and try them out before you invest in a 2lb or 5lb tub.

Whilst not a product endorsement, wheyprotein24 will send you freebie if you go to their website and ask.

chris is totally correct ,most taste a bit yukky,in my opinion, the flavours are pretty much irrelevant to my sons, they train and ive used their rec one ,maximuscle extreme , i do improve the flavour with flavourings ,or add it to coffee, and its a good well balanced protein shake, but unless you get a a good discount,(my sons buy bulk,so reduced price),its fairly costly, another member ,kevin, has posted a useful and informative post about shakes , try and check it out . x and good luck to you on your journey xxxxx
