Purée Diet Ideas?

Hi guys,

I'm gonna be on purees for 4 weeks and the booklet the hospital gave me suggests things like pureed macaroni + cheese, or tuna/brocoli and cheese sauce pureed.

Anyone got any recipes they really like? Don't really want to live on shepherds pie for 4 weeks!

Inside of half small jkt potato
Reduced salt/sugar baked beans
Touch of grated low fat mature cheddar
Tspn extra lite mayo
Whizz up serve - yummy

M&S also do done Mimi meals for one, fish pie, chicken casserole approx 250cals, whizz up yummy :)

Purees are just as boring as liquids (imo) you need wet food so it can whizz lol....

Don't forget scrambled eggs as well, and lentil soup is thick too xx

You know, I've actually been considering buying those little foil sachets of baby food, fish pie, shepherds pie, lasagne and everything!

I've been buying those hun, the kids size meals, mostly fresh organic - just whizz & it's fine....otherwise your literally limited to gravy mash dinners for a month - there's loads in m&s, Tesco etc.

You know the Ella's ones? Just seen a peach and banana one...reaaally want that now haha

Here's my diet sheet list
Scrambled egg
Ready brek
Weetabix

Liquidised casseroles (slow cooked meat)
Fish pie n veg
Thick soup
Soft pasta tomato based sauce
Cottage cheese
Mashed avocado & egg mayo
Poached salmon & mash
Cauli cheese
Fish in sauce with veg

Yay :)

Lol yes :) I can't always be arsed to cook from scratch, larger packs fine but I like something diff each evening & don't mind scooping leftover kids meal in dogs bowl or bin :)

My favs were cauliflower and broccoli cheese or marinated tofu and beans

Funnily enough I bought some tofu Saturday, was going to marinate with tikka spices & dry fry, see if I can't mimick paneer tikka - prob taste like crap but I'll give it ago lol x

Husband is a veggi so we always gave some in the fridge but the tofu I buy is ready marinated and in small pieces, it's a handy wee snack and contain protein to boot!
Let us know how you get on marinating your own, I'm crap at cooking so always looking for inspiration!

Good luck with your recipe, let us know how it goes!

All these recipes/ideas look lovely. I've still got 2 weeks on liquids so all of this is giving me cravings - not that I'm hungry at all! Just getting rather sick of slimfast!

Oh I feel for you, I have three slim fasts in the fridge. I did have one post op but I suspect the others will end up in the bin, yuk

I did the same, made sure I was stocked up & organised - I'm back to work next week & real food so will be planning again, although soup & yogurts fine for lunch whilst it's still chilly x

I can do the banana ones, and strawberry isn't too bad, but the chocolate and caramel ones are absolutely foul. And here's me having bought more chocolate than anything because I thought I'd like the chocolate one!

With regards to purées, this might sound silly, but how thick are we talking, like slop from a spoon like consistency or thicker like mash potato? Or basically anything that I can use a spoon to eat? I'm just concerned I'm going to over do it!

So that it's too thick for straw, but drops off spoon is how I started...I used teaspoon & ate half teaspoon as each mouthful - obv need to chew isn't really needed on puree stage either

What Clare said ;)
