Hi,

Just thought I'd let you all know that I had my bypass on Friday - "uneventful" the surgeon said. Came out yesterday as I felt sick on Sunday, and am now at home sipping milk and walking about as much as I can.

I do have one question - I was discharged with paracetamol tablets and have been breaking them up into little pieces to swallow but it doesn't feel right for an hour or so afterwards - should i be crushing them??

Thanks for your good wishes - i'll write again whem my head doesn't feel quite so woosy!

Wonderful to hear it went well for you hun, its given me more confidence for when i go in Jan/Feb.
Can you not get liquid paracetamols or a pill crusher ???
was its all ok in Bournemouth hosp ?????

Welcome home Moira, glad it all went well :)
I had a sleeve and so it was slightly different for me but they offered me soluble paracetamol which was a bit easier you just need to let them stop fizzing before you drink them. if you have to go with tablets then I would crush them up with the back of a spoon.

Bournemouth was lovely. Forget about sleeping though - the ward was noisy and the poor staff rushed off their feet. Slept for 10 hours last night - bliss.

I'll post soon all the details - but don't worry, being admitted was as painless and smooth as it could be and the docs and nurses were fab.

Use calpol or if on free scripts get some from the drs. I hate soluble things like that and took the adult dose of calpol (4 x 5mls spoons) and it was much better.

Glad all went well, good luck with the rest of your journey :):)

If they are all you have, yes ... I was discharged with liquid paracetamol & tiny codeine tablets. Ring your doctor to see if he can prescribe something more suitable, Glad you are back & it all went well xxx :):)

yay glad it all went well purps :) welcome home and good luck :) xxx

Hi and welcome home!
My hospital said I should be able to take ordinary paracetamol. Although I break them in half. Funny though, because I can swallow the Forceval alright and they're huge!
Anyway, welcome to the losers bench, and good luck with everything!! The hard work begins here!! xxx
