Q for BANDERS

How many fills did it take until you would say you got to good restriction, and how much did you have in your band at that point? Xxx

Hello

I have had 4 fills in total , and I have 5 mils in a 7 mil band and have not needed another fill since Feb 2010. My restriction really kicked in when I had my last fill. xx

Blimey, you must have a teeny tiny stomach with a 7ml band! Mine is 10 and I was told mine was small! Lol xx

Tbh I have no idea lol. I just asked when I woke up wot size the band was etc.......Dont know how many people out there have a 7 mil band in ....... Have you had a fill yet??

Yeah I had my first fill a couple of weeks ago but don't really feel any difference. I've got my next one on Saturday though. Xx

Had my op September 13th, now had three fill appointments and only yesterday did I really start feeling restriction (had my last fill on Monday, now have 5ml in a 10ml band).
Am worried it's a bit too much as had problems with solid food today, but think it's probably more that I've been lazy in my eating habits and need to go back to stage 1 now I have the restriction.

I thought I'd made a terrible mistake getting it done up until now, as I wasn't feeling the effects at all, but I can tell this is so much better and feeling really happy and positive :)

I've got 5.5ml in a 14ml band and I've had 4 fills. I've definitely got restriction but I feel I need another 0.5ml which I shall ask for on 18th March. I was told they never put 14ml in.

I have had 4 fills and now have 9.5mls in 14ml band. I really felt decent restriction from my last 3rd fill which took me up t0 9mls then as I lost more weight the restriction lessened. I don't think I am far off where I need to be now to lose another 1 - 2 stones. I just would love to get to 12 stones and then maintain it. When I look at the graph of my weight loss its really identifiable when I had a fill - for 2-3 weeks afterwards the weight loss was steep and then slowed down till the next fill.

We are all different but I have experienced good restriction at various stages of my journey - starting with no fill, which eventually wained.

As your stomach and the fat around it shrinks your restriction lessens.

I have a 9mil band and last had a fill in July to take me to 8.5 mils. But I am not far off 3 years out ;)

I had second fill on Saturday taking me to 6 ml in a 10 ml band and still don't have good restriction. Although I do a little bit which is way better than where I was prior to second fill

7ml in an 11ml band is when it kicked in for me :) x

I had 3mls in a 10ml band, had restriction which then disappeared to had 1 more ml put in taking me to 4mls. Had really good restriction for 5 months then for some reason it got too tight and I was struggling with liquids and had 1ml taken back out 2 weeks ago leaving me with 3mls in a 10ml band.

Thanks everyone. I was wondering whether I could work out roughly how much fill gives you good restriction but we're all so different! It's strange how some get good restriction on just a small fill whereas others have their bands nearly full to the rim.

Mine is only nearly full becaue when I reached goal and my stomach had shrunk so much I needed it to keep my portions down. It has allowed me to maintain fairly easily too.

I lost a large portion of my weight before I even had a fill too but yes your right we are all different, different sized stomachs, difference in position of the band etc etc x

Hi Sophie...reading your posts it looks like you're in the same boat as me.
I have a 10ml band which i have had 2 fills and i'm now at 5.75ml. I only seem to have restriction if i eat too fast!
I was 5 weeks later having my fill due to WLS not working in December.
I have my next fill on Monday but I have travelled all over to have mine....Bradford, preston and sheffield!
I really hope this time it makes a difference.
I have spoke to people about it and told to be patient...watch what i eat.....
I had the band to help me do this and i know in time it will but at the min i feel a lot like i have wasted my money!
I can still eat everything! and still feel as hungry as ever :(
Our time will come...I HOPE!

As an update, further to my fill on Monday I had to have an emergency defill at the hospital last night/this morning. It got to the point where I couldn't keep anything down an it was really scary! Am down to 4.5/10ml now and happy to stay at this for a while *lol*

I agree with Mazza we are all different. I had my sixth fill today. After my fill in December I had a defill after a week. I now have 9 ml in a 14 ml band. Once I am back to more solid food in two weeks or so it will be interesting to see what the restriction is like. I will however be proceeding with caution after my last experience:D.

Interestingly the consultant said he wants me to have a barium xray again to make sure everything is as it should be - so I feel reassured he is looking after me. I might have to wait a while for it as it will be after I see him in 7 weeks.

tranquil x
