question about fills?

I have a question about fills which I was hoping someone could answer. I have had one fill so far which has been fab I know there is restriction I cannot eat meat or bread of any kind or rice all the usuals. However I can eat every thing else in quite a large quantity for example eggs, vegtables ,fish with batter!, dare I say it crisps! and pasta. I am unsure about when to go for another fill. I don't want to rush I know these things take time but I haven't lost any weight yet and as I said I can still trench just not the usual suspects after banding. I haven't being going to town on the unhealthy stuff either just a mouthfull of chocolate every so often. should I go for another fill or hang on and ride it out?

hi prinny.

im having the same issues and i think im gonna book in for another fill in the next couple of weeks.
im eating healthy but still fairly big amounts

that gets better with each fill iv had 4 fills now and am thank the lord at the sweet spot with each fill the amount you can eat dwindles and some of the foods you can eat now will also have to go. id say if your private book a fill i averaged 6 weeks between my first 3 and 2 mnths between my 3rd and 4th . it does get better and easier. and beware the crispys they slide so go down easy

The periods between band fills, is weird and everyone is different. Like Serenity, I had the first fill about 6 weeks after surgery, my second fill was about 3 weeks later. I then had my third one about 5 weeks after that. I had one done on Saturday(11/04), which was 5 months after the previous one. Not sure if I have the right restriction at the moment because I am still on the mushy food, and go to normal food on Saturday when I should be able to tell. it's a bit of trial and error, and every adjustment is different from the previous one, especially as far as food goes. Somethings I could eat after fill 2, I couldnt eat after fill 3.

Hiya

If you are paying for your fills, I think you can have them when you want. I had 17 days between my second and third fill, and then 5 months between 3 & 4.
Hope that helps.

Hi there, I am NHS and although I get given an appointment, if I know that I am eating too much or still able to not feel food as it goes down to phone and get an earlier appointment.

My surgeon explained to me better how the near perfect restriction should feel. Basically every solid food you eat you should feel as it gets to the band, if it is sliding through, you are either too loose or that you have chewed the solid food to a pulp and its sliding through.

The restriction feeling is there to guide you.

He said not chew enough and it will come back out as it has no where else to go, but avoid doing that as little as possible, not good for you and definitely not good for the band.

Also one other little bit of advice...do not think that because you feel you are not getting much of the good foods to supplement it with things that go down really easy. This will slow your weightloss and if this is happening, book to have another fill or see your consultant.

I hope this helps. :)

Thanks everyone thanks gaynor. I kind of do have another question although Caz kind of answered it. As we know the slider foods go down easy. Is it better to have few mouthfuls of proper get stuck food, or will this stretch the band/stomach? Because bread and what not get stuck and make me feel like I can't go on eating I have been eating these a bit. I had a round of toast the other day and it felt very uncomfy and it works better for me than having loads of slideys but I don't want to damage my band if that makes sense. I don't see anyone in the health service to ask sorry to bug lol!
