Hi everyone ,

Can anyone throw any light on why different providers and Nhs trusts vary on how long the LSD is followed please ? Ranging from 5 days to six weeks and everything inbetween . Thanks in advance x

At Homerton the nurse told me that if above 50 BMI its 4 weeks and below is 2 weeks unless they think you need the longer LSD>

I had no LSD at all. My surgeon doesn't ask any of his patients to do it.

I had the sleeve. Almost 5 weeks ago now.

I think its just what different surgeons believe in/prefer, same with the post op diet, I was on liquids for 4 weeks, I've heard of some that go straight to soft foods and others that have 6 weeks liquid :)
Also some surgeons close the external wounds with glue some use staples others use stitches :)

And was it keyhole too ?

Like Butterfly said, every surgeon is different. I do wish they were all the same though.

Yes, it was keyhole. Post op I 'm 3 weeks liquid, 3 weeks purée, 3 weeks soft mushy and then slowly introduce different foods. It's hard going and certainly not easy.

So will your liver shrink enough after say a week on a LSD , I just don't understand why they put some on longer and others a week x

It will shrink it enough for surgeon A (who requires no LSD)
It will shrink it enough for surgeon B (who requires 1 week LSD)
It may not shrink it enough for surgeon C (who requires 4 weeks LSD)

So long as you follow what the provider has asked of you thats all you can do :)

When I went to homerton I was given 4 weeks I didnt question it but I understand, talking to others the heavier and the higher your bmi the longer your LSD lasts for

I suspect its down to the preference of the surgeon, and their experiences in terms of patient outcomes.
