repaired or not?

hi all,
i had my band fitted last week and they sent me home with a dear patient letter saying i had a hernia repair but no said anything to me while i was in hospital, i rang my team and left a message on tuesday but no one's gotten back to me yet, what do you all think, did i have a repair or not? xx

You need to chase them up again! You need to know if you have had a repair or not, not very good on their part, not getting back to you!

They should have told u when u left about it and given u some info on recovery. It is really important that you take care with the hernia because if it goes again it could cause problems with your band. I had mine done a week ago and they made sure that I knew about it befor I left. Also gave me letter for my doctor. My hernia has been alot more painful than the band, in fact only last two days I have felt humanish!!!!! You must check with them. Loads of info on hernia recovery on Internet. Good luck

It is very common for when we have weight loss surgery... if there is a small hernia if the surgeon can they will fix it to save a further operation. after all some people have no idea they have a hernia until they are opened up.... but not to tell you they did this is not normal practice... hope you get your answer soon xx

Check with your provider, I thought the surgeon would have at least come and see you and explain how your band op went and if there was a hernia repair to explain this also. Give them a call - All the best Julie x

thank you all, they got back to me and i did have a hernia repaired, so will have to take it easy in work now!!! lol xx
