Hi all
I know when you are first banded there are certain foods that we are told to avoid and rice being one of them, i also know why we are told not to eat it (because it swells in the stomach?) but does that mean always or just until the stomach gets used to the band.:33:
I think it's an individual thing. Some baders can never eat rice again, others can eat plenty. One person told me Basmati rice is better because it's less sticky.
I had my band in July (allbeit with a lot of problems!) and had sushi for the first time since the op last night - and it went down a treat!
I think it's a case of suck it and see. Just start really slowly and carefully and follow the advice of your care providers.
it depends on how tight the bnd is, at 1st it can be eaten but most people find it difficult after a fill, the wretching isnt worth it for me, but every one is different.
i discovered on wednesday that i cant eat rice anymore iv only had one fill and can still eat anything but ate a few spoons of rice and it hurt like hell made the silly mistake of having a drink of water ten mins later and ended up throwing up although i have to admit it wasnt as bad as being normally sick im never touching the stuff again!
