Rye bread disaster!

Hi there fellow bandsters, I am seldom on this forum now because things have been going well for me. Had band fitted Nov 2010 and I have lost 7stones. I have 1st more to lose which seems to be taking forever. :) Last June I suffered from a virus, was in bed for a week and was sick several times. After this I could not keep food down and required an emergency defill. The band was xrayed 4 weeks later, all was well and I had a great fill. Doctor said he thought the band had shifted a tiny bit and this was what had caused the problem. Anyway, a few days ago I decided to try half a slice of rye bread. Oh dear....really badly sick, went on for hours and I now seem to be having the same bother I had back in June. I am a bit concerned that this has happened again. I shall phone the hospital to arrange to have it checked but can anyone shed any light on this; it seems a bit unrealistic to NEVER throw up particularly since I am trying out different foods to give me a more varied diet. And when my band was slackened off last time I l gained 10 lbs - it was easy!!!!! Thanks

Hi

Personaly I dont have any sort of bread because it can cause these problems, although I would of thought rye bread should of been ok!?

Have you gone back to just fluids for a few days to allow the band to settle?

Hope you get it sorted x

Toasted thin/medium bread always goes down better!

Sorry stupid question rye bread is not the same rye ravitas? Cos they r my fav

No rye bread is not the same hun, its denser than normal bread and usually quite dark. You might of seen it before as its sold in most supermarkets now.

I have had it pre band and its very nice but I have chosen not to have any bread any more, dont want to risk any sticking or swelling incidents, or like poor Happydays - vomiting :( x

Thanks for your responses everyone. Oooooh if I could turn the clock back. Rye bread is BREAD so does not work with a band. I am on protein shakes and feeling thoroughly bored and a bit stupid. I'm going to give it until Tuesday to see how things go and if I still can't eat I'll have to call my surgeon. I do tend to swell a lot if I'm sick or have a fill. By the way I can eat ryvita no problem at all. (Wish I had stuck to them :sigh:) About six months ago I had my one and only "stuck" episode. It was seriously painful. I realised what it was but could not think what had caused it. Two hours later I went to the loo and a tiny piece of mushroom popped out, like a cork coming out of a bottle. I know not to eat mushroom but it was in a casserole and I ingested a tiny bit by accident.
Oh well fingers crossed that this is all ok. :wave_cry:

Yep bread is bread is bread. I can manage ryvita's too but only two of them - I really like the seedy ones!

I have had stuck moments but only a few, with cooked pepper (raw is fine) and raw carrot (cooked is fine but so is grated) - strange!

I hope you are feeling better by Tuesday x

I attempted some bread the other day and although it didn't get stuck it was uncomfy for a while so I won't bother again. And I find mushroom and tomatoes can be a pain so don't bother with them anymore.
How're you feeling now? I hope things are improving xx
