Saturday Night Takeaway...

PinkDaisy

I will do it this time!
Hi guys,

I have friends coming round tonight and they fancy a chinese, I am 5 weeks post op and have no restriction so have to be careful with my choice.

Do you think something like soft noodles with curry sauce is best option? I hate anything spicy and im very fussy with currys lol xx

PD hope you and your friends have a lovely evening.
Noodles is a good option but something like chow mein or chop suey is best. Curry sauce usually contains alot of fat so be careful try and avoid it if possible, the chow meins are lovely thats what I usually have

Jay xx

I think the lowest fat wold be a chop suey, not very interesting I know but plenty of veg and protein from whatever you have in it, no spice either.

Have fun x

Mine would be

4 Poppadoms with onion and chutney

Chicken Tikka starter

Chicken Tikka Vindaloo with rice with Bombay potato and Garlic Naan bread

Washed down with 2 litres of diet Pepsi

Well a man can dream can't he LOL :D:D:D

Have a great evening honey xxx

My choice would be Boiled rice with tiny chopped up pieces of chicken ( i use my scissors to get minute pieces) peppers and onions. Gail

Gail - At 3 months post bypass i'd be starting to increase the size of the chunks of solid food you are eating slightly, this way you'll find you will eat less and stay fuller for longer !

Everyone goes on about tiny chunks and chew it to pulp, but essentially the idea is to fill your pouch, tiny chucks chewed to pulp will disintigrate and slip through the stoma between your intestine and pouch quicker and easier - try experiementing !

PS - try chicken in yellow bean sauce with boiler rice :D

Hi s/s Ime a wuss lol but having said that I can chomp through a nice sirloin, no probs. Just being a bit civil to the fellow banders.

When i first started i was eating with a tea spoon and tiny bits, now though i shovel it in with a fork and swallow mouthfuls, though i've learned what the feeling of being almost full is like, and because i know how much i can eat i dont over load my plate

If I went to a restaurant nobody would ever guess that I was a gastric bypass patient, they would most probably think I was just a healthy eater, as I do watch for fats & carbs ect. But on the whole S/S very good point. Kind regards Gail.x

As I am reading this I am 4 days into my pre op diet and my hubby is eating curry - it smells delightful - I am so pleased to read that normality does come back - but with sensible choices!!!!!

I had a treat myself tonight. We had a chinese take away and I had chicken and pineapple. 3 pieces of each and 6 chips. The sauce was delicious and I enjoyed every bit of it. Pre op it would have been a full portion with rice and chips and prawn crackers so I do know my band is still doing its job lolxx
