Second stage

Hi all started my second stage today had bout 3 tablespoons off ready Brek this morning, but lunch was 2 tablespoons of cottage pie and brockley but I don't think I mashed it enough and how much should it be mashed as it's got stuck and now I feel very uncomfortable.
Any advice would be greatly welcomed xx
 
Hi, You need to mash it really well at first. The more mashed it is the better it will slide down :D Good Luck and enjoy your second stage XX
 
JaneLouise have you got a blender? I used mine all the time at this stage. My provider puts us straight onto puree (the consistency of smooth apple sauce is what you're looking for, with NO bits). Use a sieve too if you need to. Add some fluid too (gravy, milk etc if you need to)
You can also have yoghurt, sugar free custard, sugar free jelly....pureed fruit....ooooo the possibilities are endless! I LOVED pureed cauliflower cheese Yum!
Mashed stage at which a few more lumpy bits are introduced, is next.

Be gentle with pouchy, and she'll be good for you!

Oh also, I've just thought: some people do struggle with broccoli. I do myself sometimes. It can be bit fibrous. I find cauliflower much easier.

You may need t be careful about what foods you choose, and just introduce a few new things at a time.
 
How much puree are you supposed to eat? I have a small bowl of pureed food, is this too much? Food seems to puree into a much bigger amount!
 
Jinjanut when you start you'll only want a couple of spoonfuls but may well want a bit more within a couple of hours. Better to go back for seconds rather than give yourself the pressure to eat more than your actually ready for. Little n often sweets xx
