Please can somebody tell me at the second stage of gastri band do you have to purée cottage pie, fish pie??? I thought you had to but my dietician just called and said no its ok? Confused.com x

I didn't puree my food at that stage, I just ate really soft food like cottage pie, fish pie, scrambled egg (softly done), jacket potato and beans..etc. My dietitian said anything that can be mashed with a fork. So if could be mashed then I mashed it and enjoyed it!
Good luck x

I just added extra gravy to mine to make it more sloppy. xx

Cottage pie etc should be tried at the soft food stage rather than puree'd.

Puree'd stage is just that - no lumps. So mash with sauce etc x

Hi Sue, best obviously to check with your provider, but please find below stage 2 instructions from my provider THG (which seem to match what Miss Hungry and your dietician said). Hope it tasted lovely :)

2-4 weeks Post Gastric Band Surgery - Soft Food

You will now be ready to start a soft diet. Aim for the consistency of cottage pie/ well cooked cauliflower cheese/scrambled egg - foods easily broken with a fork – avoid all crunchy foods/potato skins and salads at this stage.

Breakfast ideas

Scrambled egg / omelette / polenta / poached eggs
Porridge with skimmed / semi skimmed milk
Weetabix with skimmed / semi skimmed milk
Thick fruit smoothies with a selection of fruits / banana / strawberries / summer fruits / mangoes blended with low fat Greek yoghurt or skimmed milk

Lunch and Dinner ideas

Lean minced meat and blended casserole
Fish pie and pureed vegetables
Shepherds pie / Cottage pie
Thick blended vegetable soups / mushroom soup
Soft pasta in tomato based sauce
Low fat cottage cheese
Mashed avocado and 1 soft boiled egg
Soft poached salmon with mashed potatoes

Low fat / sugar mousse

Serve on a tea plate, drink plenty of fluids throughout the day. ONLY EVER drink fluids before your meal, not with your meal, allow at least 1 hour after a meal.
Always ensure a good protein portion at each meal- as a guide this should be the size of the palm of your hand.

Yeah but been reading on here and got confused just gonna eat it sod it x

PLEASE follow what your provider advises! dont assume what everyone else seems to be having is what you should.

If you are confused with what your diet sheet says, give them a call to clear things up x
