Hi gang, can anyone help.My skin seems to be ultra sensitive lately, cant shave legs as break out in horendous rash think Im allergic to either nickle or shaving foam.Soaps and shower gels feel ok when I use them but itch like crazy later.Soapfree washing is all I can do,especially in my lady garden area!Dont use talcs, perfumes, body sprays, only Sure anti perspirant underarms. No probs there. What can I wash with?Any soothing lotions for after a shower. Are Oilatum or E45 any good? Also Superdrug have all sizes of Bio oil 3 pound off.

Try using Aqueous cream. Its skin cleansing agent and an emollient for softening and soothing skin.
I was told to use it for my sons eczema and when i had really badly cracked skin on my hands. Use it as a body wash in the shower or bath rinse it off, get dried and then use it as a body cream if you do this of a night before bed it gives it chance to soak into your skin. Its like E45 cream but thinner in texture and cheaper. My Dr recommended it.
I buy a big tub from the pharmacists at Tesco 500g for £1.99
You may have an allergy to sodium luralith (wrong spelling) that is used in nearly all shower gels and shampoos. I buy halos and horns body wash (SL) free for my son also at Tesco again cheaper than E45 and oilatum. This is in the baby aisle for less than £3.and we seem to have fewer break outs of eczema
Good luck let me know how you get on

sorry i cant help but didn't want to read and run :) all i can add is that my kids use aqueous cream when they have eczema and it seems to be a great allrounder. ideal for everything and you can wash in it too. hth tasha xxx

Hi Rebirth here. Is this the first time this has happened? You haven't changed your washing powder have you or changed your diet drastically? Just the fact that it is all over. Have you been to your doctors to exclude any medical reason for the itching?

My family has a history of eczema and uses oilatum for showers/bathing and apply Diprobase cream afterwards (not sure of spelling). My husband has sensitive skin and uses Dove shower gel with no side effects. We also use eco and tesco sensitive washing up liquid which are soap free as this also affects him.

I hope you get some respite from this soon.

I use the E45 products when my dermatitis is at its worst but the rest of the time i use body shop stuff - their Aloe range for sensitive skins is nice, as are their buriti baby range.

I would be asking the GP for a referral to the hospital as it sounds very much like you have allergy problems - they will test you for all substance types and get you on a path to getting over whatever allergy you obviously have! Some of the above have alcohol in so that may be one trigger factor.

TPT jnr used to have horrendous problems as a child and we managed to do a process of elimination - she still cannot wear metal other than gold next to her skin and perfumed products play her up merry hell.

I get my E45 on script, and balnium bath oil. Have been useing E45 for ever and love it's thick rich creamyness, I loath how thin and slippy aqueous cream is. My husband on the other hand finds E45 thick cloying and sticky and prefers the aqueous, So I think it depends on how dry your skin is, try both you may find different areas a better with different creams

sorry can't help (typical bloke thing really ) but i have skin like a rhino, thick and tough (so a doc said when she was stitching my arm up), i'm guessing any hypo-allergenic barrier cream would help, but that's been mentioned b4, i'll get my coat again lol!

Have you tried Oilatum? You put a little in the bathwater - but don't use soap. The Oilatum is a cleanser and leaves your skin feeling fabulous. It's good for all kinds of skin conditions. Mxx
