Does anyone else have a problem telling people how much they lost.

I brag about it to about three close friends and immediate family and probably drive them mad but when anyone else asks me how much I have lost, it really gets my back up. It is so personal that I dont want to tell them. I am ok with mentioning it on here as we are all in the same boat but I get really cagey when not so close friends, collegues and associates ask me.

I guess I dont want anyone doing the calculations and knowing how much I was pre -op. Also, I dont want to be anyone case study (unless they are going through the same thing). A friend once miffed me off when she said that they were taking bets at work to see how much I would lose and if I would keep it off ( she is no longer a friend)

My weight has always been a very personal battle and I dont want to tell the world now how much I have lost. Am I alone with these thoughts?

ummm no your not!! im very careful how i word my stats to people so they cant work out what i weigh!! its a very personal matter and for a 'friend' to take bets is disgusting.... no wonder she s not a friend, id be MORTIFIED if my husband knew how much i weighed really would, in fact i got myself into a panic about it incase he was coming to my appointments with me in sunderland, but he s away at the mo xx

Actually I'm enjoying telling people how much I've lost because I know I'm looking so much better for it - and I'm proud of my achievement ! So far I've only had positive reactions. I don't tell everyone I've had WLS, but if I'm asked I don't deny it.

i am completely honest with anyone who asks me :D
but then i also say this was the best decision i think i ever made...i often get people at work asking me how much i have lost now and saying how well I look and how well i am doing which is really nice

Same here... I'm loving it !

It depends who is asking, someone at work asked me today '' how much weight have you lost now'' as if it was going to significantly increase in the space of about 3 weeks grrr.. It really depends if they spoke to me before surgery as to how much information i impart...

i know what you mean because when i say iv lost seven stone some look as if to say wow she still has shed loads to go she must have weight more than i thought, my hub says im parinoid lol so if people say you have lost weight i say yes but still a good bit to go and leave it at that x

I really struggle with this and do sometimes feel embarrased, more so with the fact I've lost the weight through a bypass. When I lost a load of weight previously, it was through strict diet and hard work and I was so proud of myself and used to shout about my weight loss, but now it's really different and I don't feel like I'm really achieving anything !
