I'll answer from a bypasser's point of view. It's okay to drive once you can do an emergency stop safely. However you need to take into account that you will find it uncomfortable those times you need to twist n turn, (tight junctions, overtaking on the motorway etc). If i was you i'd not think about it for at least a week. If you have kids that need running to school and you honestly can't walk them there then find a friend to help....
I waited a week until after my band Lorraine - and I came through the op pretty unscathed. It can vary from person to person; don`t even think of driving if you are in any pain and are taking medication for it. Also make sure as others have said that you`re fully mobile.
Good Luck for the op Lorraine - not long now hun x
My surgeon told me to wait 1-2 weeks, and the insurance company said they followed the surgeons advise. I waited 2 weeks and I was glad I did as the first week back behind the wheel a dog ran infront of me and I had do an emergency stop (first time in 12 years).
