Hi guys i didn't know where to post this. I'm a single parent currently waiting a gastric bypass. Is there any single parents on here that have had the surgery or are waiting? I would love to chat and have support please thanks all

Hi Tumbelina,

I hate the term "single mum" has such negative connotations and we tend to be blamed for all the ills in society. To me it always implies the children have no father, which is seldom the case. So' it's not a term I embrace.

Anyways, I have two children aged 7 and 9. I had my bypass in October.

I've done 'single' parent and it's bloody hard, hats off to you ladies for doing that and wls at the same time xxx

i am so used to be called a single parent now. but i do agree we definatly do the job of two parents! thanks for the replys. how did those who had the op go on with child care and recovering after? thats the part im dreading i have three kids and one is a live wire to say the least. how did you prepare the kids for when you went in? thanks xx

a close friend - a ex had my kiddies when i went in, and i was back doing the whole mum & dad role the following day

im a single mum and have been from conceptionm and proud to be called one. loved every momenty of it but he was 20 when i had my op and looked after me!! I was lucky as my recovery was really fast and went on a training course 5 days after having my bypass and was swimming 11 days after. The fitter yu can get yrself before surgery the better.

How old are yr children and can you plan yr op around term time so you dont have to look after them during the day if they are in school.
