hiya

Feeling bit fed up today, had a letter to go to the sleep clinic but not until 12th August, which is ages, they wont put me on the list until i've seen them and does anyone know if you have to be on treatment for a few weeks before they put you on the operating list, so were looking at rather a few months.

I was told that if diagnosed with sleep apnoea, I would need to use a CPAP machine at nights for 3 months before they would anaesthetise me for my op.

I was referred by my GP in January 10, got the appointment date 16th March; then had to wait three months for the results - which I had to chase them for... I guess it depends on your service provider and their waiting lists, as to how long it will take. Thankfully, mine came back negative. Hope all goes well.

Hiya did they call you into hosp for the results, not been told have got it but want to see me on Friday now in sleep clinic. x

Hi,I was diagnosed with sleep apnea not long ago, been told by anaesthetist that I have to be on cpap machine a minimum of 6 weeks. As other people say chase that clinic for your results.Good Luck x

Thank you, am going friday to see them, they made appointment 12th Aug would be another 5 weeks to wait, but rang today and got a cancellation for Friday, just hate the waiting game x

I think every hospital has their own rules. I had to wait for funding for my cpap machine, and the anaethetist wanted me to have used it for six weeks before he would operate. They need to be sure that any apnea is under control before they do the op. Hopefully you will get it all sorted at your appointment with the sleep clinic.

Thanks hun x

No, I got a letter from them advising the result was negative. The consultant at DMH was aware of the reason for the test - ie bariatric surgery, so didn't need to take any sleep problems any further once SA was ruled out. If I continue to have problems with sleeping/daytime sleepiness then I need to see my GP.

U never know they might tell u u haven't got it! I got my machine a week after I was diagnosed, the had to go back a week later for the to check the results from the machine. But mine was all done at Wrexham so didn't have so far to travel xxx
