Slim Fast

I have just tried the cafe latte flavour, started out okay but I cannot finish it and I am pre op LOL has anyone tried heating it as it is flipping cold?

Hi Daisy... I've never heated it... but I had a good success with slimfast last summer... replacing 2 meals with the prepared shakes... I kept mine at room temperature for a while instead of refrigerating... I don't think they are refrigerated in supermarkets are they?

I can't see any harm in heating it slightly... give it a good shake up before you have it, it tends to settle at the bottom of the bottle...

Love and hugs xxx

Just heated the bit I didn't drink and it was pleasant and warming may do that one for breakfast

Hi I had the caffe latte one I heated it but found it too sweet and I couldn't finish it all either xx

I love Slimfast ice cold - I add some peppermint essence to the chocolate one and it's yummy.

Was wondering if the powders are better because then you can make up as much as you want (which for me is less than a ready made bottle) Anyone used the powders and if so how have you got on with them?

Hi Daisy.
I started on Slimfast on 1st Feb for op on 21st. Me and hubby having ops at same time so we're going through it all together. We were going to buy the readymade shakes but worked out between us at 5 a day for 20 days it would cost us over £150!!

So we bought 10 readymade bottles, 2for1 in Superdrug (£1.59), and once drunk we wash them out and save them to refill each day. We then went to Tesco and bought 16 tins of the powder, 2 for £7 on special.

Also we bought the Cravendale milk, we used skimmed anyway, thats 2 4pint bottles for £3 and its extra filtered and lasts much longer than normal milk. (I bought more today and the date on it is 1 March and once opened lasts for 7 days) I've used it for months and it sort of tastes much 'cleaner' than usual milk.

So now we have kept 4 of the empty big milk bottles and I make up a couple of different flavours each night, around 4 servings on whatever ones we're running low on, and refill the milk bottles which are now all labelled with the flavours!

In the morning fill 3 bottles for each of us of whatever flavour we fancy, or a mixture, to take to work, then we have 2 more in the evening at home.

It does take a bit of getting used too, and definitely make sure you keep your other fluids up as I had a nightmare headache for the first two days as I wasn't drinking enough.

And you'll be surprised how quickly you do adapt to not having any food. I save my oxo cube to have on an evening as my 'evening meal'! lol

I was dubious about using the powders but I think they're really nice. The serving suggestion is 2 scoops per 250ml of milk. We make approx 1250mls of milk and only put in about 7 scoops (for us it's too strong a flavour otherwise).

I'd definitely give it a go. We went for this as you don't need to buy extra vitamins, which I'd forget to take, and my hubby is diabetic and this is the preferred way for them.

Hope you manage to get on it and 'enjoy' (if thats the right word!) the slimfast.

I too use the powder (when I am on it) as it works out fairly reasonable when you buy it on offer as Karen said. I didn't like the Banana, or Chocolate much, so tend to stick to Vanilla and Strawberry, with Vanilla being my favourite.

:)Wow Karen -that's fantastic organisation:)

Looks like you'll have saved a bob or two for all the new clothes you & hubby will need!

Great results too so far-you're going to have a lovely little liver!

Good Luck:)

Many thanks for your replies. I will try some vanilla powder I think then I can add flavour as I wish, maybe a coffee or even a mashed banana as this is not for my pre op yet. You are so organised Karen that is the sort of thing I would do. My friend also puts her milk allowance daily into a jug rather than out of the bottle so she knows exactly how many coffee/teas she can have LOL. I only have two per day so that should not be a problem for me.
Where are you both having your ops?

Hi Daisy
Yes Karen is ulta organised. I just make up one portion as I need it. I have a glass with a pattern on it, and know exactly where to pour the milk up to. Also The glass is wide enough for my little whisk, so I just whisk it in the glass to save on washing up! (But I wouldn't call that organized I call that lazy)

I hardly ever paid full price when I bought slimfast. Boots, Tesco's and Superdrug had buy one get one free, or 2 for £6, or 2 for £7. So After my initial purchase I just stocked up when the offers were on. (I have 6 tins of vanilla now waiting to be started)

OH By the way, when the 'made up bottles' were on offer too I did treat myself to the odd one or two. The Lemon Meringue one was my favourite there.

I don't have an op date yet - Same as you fingers and toes crossed!! I am hoping to be done by late spring...

Me too, though I am concerned re date. I have yet to find the lemon meringue flavour

Looks like a trip to boots then, I have £10 on my points card, so get some freebies!

I'm having my op at Homerton in East London. x

I'm at the Chelsea and Westminster though starting to wish I had gone to Chichester as they seem to be moving quicker

Chelsea and Westminster sounds very posh LOL Just one step down from Harley Street !

You wouldn't say that if you saw it LOL. i only chose there because it is near work and would not need so much time off
