Snacks after bypass

I am now 2 and half months out but am struggling to know what to eat as snacks. Am really wanting something savoury but keep going to the fridge for cheese which is not good.

Any ideas folks xx

How about a crispbread or dutch bake with some lean ham and thin strips of roasted red pepper, or low fat hummous?

Always keep boiled eggs in the fridge and hummus, homemade protein bars, jerky, nuts (measured) deli meats wrapped around cucumber sticks, tuna mayo (couple of table spoons fills you up) or those tuna snack pots are good, I like the lemon or basil one.

A friend was telling me last night about soy puffs, more protein than chicken and low cal. I had never heard of them but going out looking for them in a bit. She gets them online but likely to be available in H&B or Wholefoods

That's to you all, some great ideas here xx

Agree with all the above. Oat cakes are a good source of OK carbs - good on their own or with the low fat hummus. Stay off the cheese tho hun as it really is not good and will probably give you stinking wind, along with other fats and sugars ...

How do you make home made protein bars, what ingredients do you use they sound good for an on the go snack.

I love the carrot cake protein cake bar on paleo mg.com. I also make oat bars using oats/seeds/crushed nuts/coconut/protein powder and I bind it with honey and peanut butter or coconut oil or butter or applesauce. Just google protein bar recipes and you will get loads come up its just trial and error. You can put in low carb or low fat if you want to. Personally I don't really use low fat products or a low carb diet however I do have to watch the portions and too much fat as my body is not a fan!

Another one I like is tzatziki. Easy to make, use Fage Total 0% Greek yogurt, some grated cucumber left to drain overnight through a sieve or muslin, fresh garlic
, salt and pepper. Mix and refrigerate. If you can tolerate it, add a little olive oil. Serve as a dip with any other the suggestions above.
Good protein. Low fat.

Edit - if you do not drain the cucumber it will go all watery. Squeeze out as much as you can and pat dry with a kitchen towel after you have drained it. I just make it in the yogurt carton. A small one is plenty.
