my letter also said 'to be considered for surgery'. Pretty standard letter, honey but from going to my group meeting to my op was just 4 months so hope you have your skates on xxx

I'm so touched by the kindness and support of everyone on this forum.
Unlike a lot of people I've never suffered any abuse because of my size, but I have over recent years surrounded myself with only close friends and family.
But to receive understanding like I have here is so great, so big thanks to everyone who has left me messages of support, and hopefully one day in the not so distant future I'll be taking my turn at reassuring a new pre opper that it's the best thing they've ever decided to do etc etc :thankyou:

Emma, I was very surprised how quick it is from referal to op.
I had until last year lived in the north east and the waiting time then was over 18 months.
I would have gone for the referal earlier in my time here but the last 6 months of last year were very traumatic for me due to my father being ill and ultimately passing away so I wasn't in the right frame of mind then for the op

Your'll do fine...its a consultation. You get to meet all the people that maybe in your life for the next year or so...Dietician, surgeon, nurses etc
They have put 'considering for wls' because they have to talk to you, find out that this is the best option for you, that you arnt 'unhinged' or doing it without thinking....etc....To make sure that you will undertake the necessary pre op and post op specialist diets...
Do your research before hand, so that you can show them you know what you want and your ready.
By the way, my referral was in the November 2011, my consultation like yours was in the January 2012....pre op in the march and surgery in the April....and now im one week post op
