Hi Tinkerboom - If you google in Walsallheartcare into a new tab, there is quite a comprehensive list of what it involves as well as the history of it!

Hope you find some useful information that will help you.

Hi Tinkerboom,

If it's anything like the level 4 weight management course I went on you will see Dr Heartland, the nurse, psycologist, dietician and exercise person. I was given victoza to try and help lose weight which didn't work then was tried on metformin still no weight loss. First apointment was June 09, but between Sept & Dec 09 no apointment was sent so I phoned and was told that I had been lost in the system:rolleyes:, was then given an apointment in Feb and had my final apointment in April where Dr Heartland told me he would write off to the PCT for funding for surgery. Had heard nothing by September so phoned around to find out that the PCT had not received a letter, within a month I was told that funding had been granted and that an apointment had been made for me with Mr Khan & Mr Kendrick for the 14th Jan:D, so all in all from my Dr's referal to my apointment with Mr Khan it has been about 22 months.

Hope this has in some way given you answers, all I can say it to keep chasing as the Manor's admin is not the best, good luck

Helen x

yes it is the level 4 weight management im with walsall heartcare(do they know something i dont lol) they have not explained to me what it entails could you possibly shed a bit of light on the course itsefl hun please x

In a nutshell mate they weigh you, assess your eating & exercise habbits, have the psycologist assess you to see why you have the problems you do and possibly try different drugs on you to try and lose weight. To be honest it has been that long ago since I went I have forgotton exactly what was said, only that surgery was never mentioned until my last apointment.:character00201:

Thankyou for getting back to me hun i have already had orlistat before so what other weight loss medication is there?? as i no reductil was withdrawn

Well I was on reductil from the GP before they put me in for the level 4 so they kept me on that for a while, then they tried me on victoza injections I think it is a new type of diabetic drug that can help weight loss, only it didn't help me, and finally they gave me metformin (huge tablets) and they didn't work either.

After that I had my final appointment where he said that he was going to apply for funding from Walsall PCT, that took forever:sigh: but I have my appointment with Mr Khan & the shrink next Friday:D, wish I could tell you more mate but that's all I have:(
