hi can anyone tell me whether you can manage spicy food after a gastric bypass, i hope so as i love curry, julie.x

yup you can manage it, go easy on it to start with give the stomache time to heal. A benefit of spicy foods is that it boosts your metabolism :) i only learned this one post op from my dietitian

I actually like spicy food more than I did pre-op. Since I take 2 daily acid reducers I never get heartburn or reflux from spicy foods. Also, as after a bypass you have to chew you food for so long, spicy is best because the food isn't tasteless by the time you actually swallow!

What about rice I havent tried that yet. Diane I didnt no that spicy speeds metabolism That great info

Had my first rice meal last week tina mushroom rissotto enjoyed it but was very wary of it sticking so only had a very small portion. Rice is best left for as long as possible which means 12+ weeks and also alternating the rice with another food type per mouthful to help prevent it sticking

I have rice no probs. Like Nic I also found I was craving spicy food early on.

Spicy food will be fine, but if you are ordering takeaways etc just be aware of the fat content.
