Hi Lindy, no you will get weighed and your height taken today so they can work out your BMI then it will be at your first appointment with the nurse & dietician that you will be given a goal weight to lose. But they do ask you to try and lose weight between the seminar and your first appointment which was about 3-5 months not sure if it is still the same waiting times,
Good luck, Karen x

Good Luck, it goes really fast the time. it feels like it was just a few months ago that i went to the doctors and when they set you weight loss targets it goes even quicker. im going for the camera down in two weeks and fingers crossed ill be on the list. so thats less then a year to hopefully get on the list . xxxxxx

Good luck and hope you have a good journey. i know it feel like ages between each appointment but just keep going there is light at the end of the tunnel

well done and good luck i know how u feel i have a date for my seminar as well 7th oct but here in edinburgh

Hey Lindy.. didn't want to read and run.. I too was 'done' at SRH..

my seminar was july '08, first appointment with lovely Maureen was end sept/beginin october same year, went back dec, had o.s.a. testing done (which for me was a yes and now wear a mask at night) then endoscopy following march '09, ecg, bloods and psych appointment etc in the april and my operation in the may

overall - entire process for me took 10 months..

but am not going to pussyfoot.. this journey is not for the faint-hearted and you will be asked to try and show willing between appointments to lose a little weight - it will be one based on your own personal eating habits and dependant on which operation you get 'deemed' would be best for YOU.. everyone is different but the process is the same.. as is the outcome..

we all get our WLS and we all have to re-learn how to be ourselves and work with whichever 'tool' we are given..

never ever give up.. even when it gets so draining (which it can at times.. I unfortunately know this and so do others who have gone before you too..)..

Remember..

this journey is a new chapter in your life.. its YOURS to travel but you are NOT alone.. we're all here, behind you every step of the way to jolly you along, listen when you want to scream and yell and kick.. and with congrats when you come through the op and start to post that 'yayyy..its working..weight is coming off and my life is so much better..' :)

Good luck to you x x

Hi,

I had my seminar in August, have just had a letter from Mr Shroeder so I'm assuming that he is the consultant I am under.. incidently he is the consultant who was at the seminar in August. I am expecting my first appointment to be November/December this year. At the seminar I was aware that someone mentioned they will ask you to loose approx 3-5kgs, I'm hoping to do this prior to the Nov/Dec appointment.

There is a support group starting 29th September at SRH, I was hoping to go but my offduty is already done so I'll be asking for the October date and try and get it in the request book.

I wish you all the best with your weight loss journey, let us know how you get on.

Helen x
