St georges follow up

Just received a letter from st george's for a bariatric team appt in February!!! 6 months after op. Is this the norm I thought I would b seen sooner?

Hi Paula, I'm sure it should be sooner than six months. I'm having my op at St Anthony's (although I'm having it done privately) but I know part of the package is a check four or six weeks later (sorry can't remember which). I would call them and check. Surely they need to check your wounds are healing correctly.

I hope your operation went well and you are on the road to recovery x

i rang them and mr reddy secretaary said that it was correct, according to what the pct require for appointments

That's really rubbish - I can't see how they can tell if you are healing correctly if they don't see you sooner. How have you been since your op? Do I remember correctly that you had your op at St Anthony's? How was it, that's where I'm having mine. I'm in Sutton, so just down the road from you! Emma

yes you are right i did have mine done at st anthonys, this was an over flow from st georges under nhs. wounds have healed. i spoke to the secretary of my surgeon, she said its the pct that decided 6 months, and they have a lot of patients ringing up

most of the people at st ants were nice except one nurse who could have brushed up on her people skills but all good

I'm bound to get the nurse lacking in people skills (always happens to me)! After having three kids and one really awful midwife I'm now used to telling people to bugger off!

Hi
I had my bypass done on 24/6/13 at salford royal & my follow up app is 15/8/13.
On discharge my surgeon & other staff said if i had'nt heard anything within 1 week ring & make an app !
6 months does seem a long time to be seen from such a major op, think i'd ring your pct & see what the guidelines are !!
