Does anyone else get fed up, was gonna say something else but I'll be polite lol, get fed up with people staring at you cos ur overweight? Or won't sit next to you in the bus. Had one woman today would not stop staring couldn't make it less obvious if she tried! I have my first group meeting on Tuesday at st george's tooting if anyone else us there see u then

I know its hard to ignore the ignorant people in this world....mind you, they sit on the loo just like the rest of us. Under their clothes, you don`t know what hidden afflictions they have. Probably boils in unseen nasty places....you`ve gotta giggle hun...otherwise you would be driven mad by it all.

You have a chance to make changes for the future and give you good health and more confidence. And things will get so much better for you x

They will always have ugly minds as well as other areas!

Try not to let them get you down x

I had that recently while I was on holiday in tenerife.

I was on the sun lounger, and yes they did hold my weight lol, had my shirt off and a lot of people that walked by starred at me, in the end, as a joke, I use to say to them, haven't you seen a real budha before or do you want my autograph lol

Once you acknowledge that you have seen them looking, they don't know where to look or what to say back to you.

Just be proud of who you are and dont worry what others think, you probably will never see them again.

At least it means I get my own seat on the bus lol.

But yeah I hate it. Especially when they stare very obviously at my stomach. Perfect strangers think it's ok to make cruel comments about me too. Well not for much longer.

Next time your gp stares at your tummy ask him why!!!! Don't put up with any disrespectful comments or looks or glances from anybody.
Be polite but you should definately ask and also say something along the lines of, 'when you stare at my tummy it makes me feel self conscious and uncomfortable and I do wish you wouldn't do it. Do you do it on purpose?' That will make them feel as uncomfortable as they make you feel.

haha....hes WEIRD hed prob start lecturing me about my stomach...trust me i dont wana set him off. i avoid seeing him and see anyone but if i can but emergencies are usually with him plus hes always the available one cos noone likes him

Yep all the time, I hate it when a van of "builders" drive towards me, and they spot me, say something and start laughing and I presume 100% of the time its about me. So if im walking up the road and I see a van I make sure I dont look at them.... sometimes ill get the odd "oi fatty!" but do you know what feck em, were all going to loose weight eventually and we wont have to put up with it.

hi about two hours ago i was at the park with my little girl and one little girl walked out the park and said she's big. and just kept saying it walking away. didnt hear anything from the mum but she was prob too horrified and just ignored it! lol it can get you down but life is much more important than letting someone else nasty comments get you so low. just remember how many people love you! i was just glad my daughter was playing and didnt hear! the sooner my GB is done the better. i do not want my little girl to have the fat mum at the school gates! kids can be so cruel i do not want to be iving them more amunition!
and as for the gp a few years ago i had to have an emergency appointment as i had a flu or something and needed anti biotics. the gp just kept going on about my weight. i told him straight that i was not ill cos i was fat and if he didnt want to give me any meds then i was leaving. went home and cried (prob cos i was so ill!) but i think some doctors need to learn a few manners!

Hold your head up high and deliberatly let them know you have seen them looking, smile at them and they tend to look away fast. It took me alot of years to be able to ignore ignorant people, when I was nursing I often got patients that said your fat, I used to look them straight in the eye and say yes I am, they dont have an answer to that as they dont expect it. Nobody is better than you, we are all the same under our clothes just some of us are bigger than others xx

Then they kinda dont look at you and tend to look at their feet because they get confused at confrontation.. I think they expect us to hide in the corner in shame.. don't they think we do that in our own minds enough? Self indulgent arrogant people are not worth the time of day they are given!

People who dont have respect for others, arent good when karma comes back around to bite them.. its unexpected in their tiny minds..

Yeh I do feel really awful when people stare, but on the other hand, don't we all do it, even though we don't mean to. Whether its at the person that is much bigger than us or the disabled person who is stuggling with something and we're not sure whether to help, or people that are really tall or really short or have some kind of deformity. We all do it. Mostly accidentally or because we don't know what to say.

I know what you mean....probably why, with the way i usually dress (goth style and funky coloured dreads, piercings & tattoos) my mindset was the "fine have something to look at!" haha

it's an awful scenario and I am guessing much worse for women as there aren’t the social pressures on men to conform (quite so much) . . . on the other hand do you ever feel a little better when there are other supersized folk around? I know when I came home from surgery we stopped at Sainsbury’s for so much needed provisions and while I waited in the car I actually counted the amount of passersby that I felt would benefit from surgery . . . . it was a fairly high percentage – maybe I was just trying to justify the pain I was in xx

magicbeans i did not ever go back to that doc again! found a lovely doctor who was amazing and help me start my journey to surgery. he has left now though! am very upset and do not enjoy the docs as much. plus he was a bit gorgeous! lol

I couldn't cope with a gorge doctor, I would never want to see him for anything that involved removing clothes!
