I'm a newbie and I just wanted to say Hi!
I have been trying and failing to lose weight for 16 years now and finally I seem to have found a sympathetic doctor that actually listens!
I initially asked my doctor when I lived in Essex for help and to be honest She couldn't have been more disinterested if she tried!
So again I tried going it alone. After each failed attempt at dieting I always end up heavier than I was before I started.
So anyway our family moved over to Kent in 2010 and not knowing anyone in the area or even having any relatives around I suppose I found solace in food!
I could feel the whole situation becoming out of control so I thought I would brave it and go and see my new gp.
Well needless to say he was very dismissive and not at all understanding.
The realisation that no one was going to help and in order for me to get myself out of this rut and because all conventional diets had failed me I decided to try a very low calorie diet called Exante.
So this diet was hard! But I wanted it so bad I stuck at it for 3 months, eating nothing but 3 milkshakes a day. It was going well but during this time I starting getting excruciating pains during my TOTM.
Now I knew I had PCOS but this pain was unimaginable, I have a very high pain threshold and I was on the floor in agony!
So reluctantly I went back to my GP about the terrible pains and this is a quote from him 'it's probably because your feeling down about your weight that your not coping with the pain very well'
And I was prescribed co codemol.
Well as I walked home from the surgery I was just in floods of tears, I mean I was in terrible pain during these spouts.
I stopped the VLCD but the pain continued. My husband kept telling me I needed to go back but I couldn't stand a further dismissal!
I finally plucked up the courage and rang the surgery requesting to see a different doctor.
This doctor has to be the most understanding compassionate Dr I have ever seen!
Anyway I was referred to the hospital, which in turn led to a laparoscopy, which discovered I had ovaries fit to burst and my whole womb was plastered with endometriosis. So at 31 I had a total hysterectomy.
Needless to say once I stopped the VLCD plus being menopausal the weight piled on and then some!
So now I am the heaviest I have ever been. After many failed attempts to get back on the VLCD I went back to see the aforementioned nice Dr as my weight now has seriously started to be a cause for concern.
I was unable to take the weightloss pills so I have now been referred to the weight loss management team.
I have no idea on what to expect but I'm going to try my hardest at this course.
If there is anyone in Kent who are on or completed the 4 healthy weight course please let me know what I can expect. I'm rather nervous!
