Still stuck!!

New Member
I have been the same weight for about 6 weeks now. I am 9 weeks out and have lost 1 stone, my bmi is about 28 at the moment. I am averaging 1100 cals per day and advised not to drop much lower. I am very disappointed and feel like I have wasted my money. I have not seen any posts where sleevers have said they have been stuck for this long. Has anyone else experienced this?

I can understand how you feel, when you try so hard have surgery etc you expect the weight to come off.

All I can say my daughter had a band 3 years ago and in the first year she only lost 2 stone and she was 10 stone overweight :/
Just lately she has cut her cals right down
NOT a thing I advise but finally she is dropping weight fast
Its a fine line isn't it, we want to loose weight but we also need to do it safely :/

Hargs, every team have different guidelines. Mine adviced me to stay around 600 cals and I have been since op 6 months away
Could you discuss the problem with your team?

Have you tried keeping fluids and prots high? I found that protein intake really helps weight loss.

Hi

I was also told like you to have @ 1000-1100 cals at that time. When I stalled they told me to up the calorie intake a bit as they thought it wasn't enough for my body. Since then I have been on @ 1200 as average, sometimes more or less of 300 cals either side, and it works! It s something for your body to wok on then. You also need to mix your food up a bit, ie not have the same things day in day out.

Good luck!

Hi Bally

I will discuss that with them. I have seen your food diary on here so that helps. I just feel really down about it. How much have you lost?

Poor you Hargs, how our bodies are all so different!!
Are you exercising? Drinking plenty of fluids?

It's a good idea to talk to your team as they're the best ones to advise.

Hope it all comes right for you.

Hi

Yes I am exercising - the dietician has blamed no loss being the result of muscle building. I don't think it's that. I am counting calories now and this feels like a diet. I never wanted to be on a life long diet - obviously I have been able to stick to a diet in the past. I understand healthy choices but I thought that having 80% of my stomach removed would mean that had my calories controlled :( so disheartened

No wonder you are feeling down!

Not a sleever but my advice would be to contact your dietician and discuss your current food choices. They may be able to offer some alternatives. Maybe try logging what your having on here for comparison too.

I hope it starts shifting soon x

I've lost 34 kgs. in 6 months.
I'm not sure I feel on a lifelong diet.
I'm cal-counting but the difficult part is fitting enough prots in my tiny new stomach. Cals are naturally low if I eat prots first.

Do you mind sharing what your daily calorie intake is on average?

My average daily calorie intake is 600 cals.

wow that's low compared to me, I can eat 900-1000 cals a day but im still on puree and im finding it really hard to find protein's I like being purred so I do eat a lot of carbs at this stage. when I get back to normal foods and I can eat my proteins in whole foods like eggs, chicken, cheese without blending Im guessing my cals will reduce again and I will feel more full as im getting hungry every 2-3 hours at the min but am satisfied on a small amount....this is such a learning curve.

I can't eat a lot, I enjoy that my portions are controlled for me. I have not tried pasta or rice yet because I did not really eat that pre op. I have had mash potato but again I don't eat much of that either. I stick to mostly protein. It is much easier to get protein in after the puréed stage. Are you allowed mince yet? Or really soft fish? That helped me to get protein down.

Your BMI is 28?! Why did you have surgery? You can't have much to lose so it will be slow. Are you tracking? What exercise are you doing? Are you focussing on protein and not carbs?

I have had a band previously that slipped. I had if removed I was regaining weight so had sleeve. Yeah I am eating mostly protein, the carbs are from rice cakes or crisp breads, fruit and occasional treats. I do strength and conditioning circuits I do use weights but I would have expected to see more of a loss now but you are right I do only have a bmi of 28

That's right, Lulunics, you'll have time at the solid stage to track your intakes. It's quite hard to do so at the previous stages. Good luck!!!

At 9 weeks out its very early to be eating rice cakes/crisp bread and treats. Try going back to basics and not snacking and up the exercise with some cardio.

I am in my first week after bypass. so your post is very interesting as it could be my future !
As a newbie I am more concerned about liquidising proteins making them runny even adding marmite to the mix for b12. At this early stage I am looking overall at the need to not be ill or my hair fall out in 3 months! Maybe not a diet for life but a new life eating plan with surgery as the help.
Maybe as other more experienced people say think about going to your dietician. I do hope you sort the problem. x
