Stitching Itching :)

I have never had stitches before-

Do dissolvable stitches itch when they heal? I'm allergic to the dressings...could be this?

I'm a bit bruised, but nice clean wounds...just itchy?

Will they just dissapear? How long? When do i stop using dressings? Do i take off the little strip tape?

sorry Coralie but I've never had them. My wounds were stapled. Maybe its the dressings as these can often irritate the skin.

Hi there,

The itching you feel is the actual healing process. Best advice is let the dressings fall off when they do and do not pull them off.

Some people have stitiches that dissolve, others have to have them removed. The hospital will tell you, or will have told you. Mine disolved, and were not noticeable after a couple of weeks. You could feel itching because of the healing process. There will be internal stitiching too that you can't see. My hospital told me to take dressing off within a day or so. I have been slightly allergic to dressings. They left a slight rash around the wound area.
If you are at all unsure, contact your team and they will give you advice. We can only tell you our own experiences.
So if in doubt ring the hospital!! x x x
