Hi all,

Wow I'm coming out with a lot of questions at the moment! Sorry!

When being discharged from hospital, how long were you told to keep your surgical stockings on for?

How long did you ACTUALLY keep them on for?.

X

I only had them on for less than 24 hours, I had my op at 4pm the next day I had a shower around 1pm, the nurse asked if I wanted my stockings back on, I said no not if I don't have to, she said as I was mobile there was no need :)

I was told to keep than on for 6 weeks.. I have not worn them since being discharged... As i walk a lot, should not be a problem x

Thanks both,

I had my op Wednesday morning and was discharged Friday morning.

I was told to leave them on for two weeks day and night but I got bored yesterday morning and took them off lol x

They took mine off me as soon as I was walking about lol maybe they recycle them ;) lol

What, into instruments of torture??

oh blimey i had to wear mine for two weeks it was torture to begin with LOL the nearer i got to my two weeks the more i liked them...... in the end i wore them longer than the 2 weeks stated ...........they kept my legs warm LOL

i couldn't wait to take them off lol x

I was told two weeks and I kept them on for that time. TBH I was as nervous as hell once I did take them off as as close friend of mine has had some major health scares due to developing an embolism from not wearing g the stockings when she should have.

I was told two weeks and stuck to two weeks, and was still paranoid that every pain was a clot forming! was mobile, and didn't have any clots, but I generally do what I'm told, so two weeks it was x

Two days whilst on the ward they were taken off third day. I do have to inject myself for two weeks though instead.

i am injecting myself in the stomach for 7 days...x

how r u finding the injection I have injected insulin twice a day for years but this one is painful.

Also I am a month on clear fluids and month on mush then soft foods. I am finding everything is going straight through me. I did not think that happened with the sleeve.

I am finding it very difficult taking my meds with them having to be crushed

Those damn stockings stopped my circulation!
I think I kept them on in the night, but walked throughout the daytime.
I did try and wear those attractive things as much as possible..lol

Wireman, I find it doesn't hurt at the time but about 5 mins later it feels like you've been punched!

I took them off when I walked out of hospital, they said as long as I was up and moving every waking hour it was ok to take them off. I wore them when I flew to Mallorca a couple of weeks post-op and they were much easier to get on having lost a few pounds by that point!
I was on the injections for 14 days post op, I found the needles really blunt and sore compared to insulin needles and I got funny red spots and bruises all over my tummy, the day of my last injection was a huge relief!

My stomach is one massive bruise at the moment what with the wounds and then the bruising from the injections!

I was told to have them on all the time for 6 weeks but I have previously had a DVT. Found in the hot weather this was a complete nightmare!
