I knew the sleeve was gonna be hard but I thought in a completely different way.I thought I would be starving craving ready to kill for a sniff of food but 1 week in I'm not.

I have no interest in eating food or drinking for that matter it's very hard at the moment to bring myself to get enough in.
I just have no urge to at all

Lost 15 pounds in a week no real pain mild discomfort from wind but that's it.

Wierdly I find myself obsessed with cookery programs though lol come dine with me being a particular favourite even though I do not fancy anything on it on the slightest.

Oh my word!!!!
you sound EXACTLY how i was early post op, infact i posted on here as i had absolutely no desire to eat or drink at all, i still have days like that, but they are less common, as for watching loads of cookery programmes i did that too! I watched loads of telly full stop, but i loved anything to do with cooking and food, how weird is that!

Snap! You sound exactly the same as I was when I was newly post-op. Stick with it - it is so worth it x

Yayyyyyyy I'm normal.

I've been obsessed with cookery programmes all week. Was scaning the telly in hospital to find them. The nurses were laughing at me! :8855:

But also like you I don't have urge to eat any of the things I see and I'm really forcing the fluids in at the moment.

I'm having no cravings and miss nothing. The though of my once favourite peanut M&M's is making my stomach turn and I wouldn't have thought twice about sitting and eatting a WHOLE bag (large bag!) before this op.

Long may it last!

Enjoy it while you can. Just plan everything out so that you get all your proteins and fluids to help your body heal.
PS read the other thread, still laughing.

Rebirth xx

Not had my op yet (it's coming on Tuesday, yay!), but I can't wait for this feeling...at the minute being on my liver-shrinking diet, all I can think about is food, lol. This loss of appetite is a common side-effect that really helps with the weight loss, because all the cells in the lower stomach (& small intestine in a bypass) are literally bypassed in the op & it's these cells that secrete a hormone called ghrelin that makes us feel hungry hungry hungry all the time!

What a wonderful thread....to be able to watch cookery programmes and not feel hungry... that is something to look forward to... great to hear such progress... love and hugs always, Bev xxx

Me too... I have started setting an alarm to remind me to eat!! And i'm obsessed with food programmes too especially Masterchef Australia!! What do they do to us on that table??

My bariatric nurse warned me this would probably be the case. And it is for me too.

Zero appetite or interest in food. I even sat and watched the family eat MacDonalds today whilst I had a skinny latte - no effect.

I actually took Linzi's tip on board and I set an alarm on my phone to remind to eat.

Weird isn't it? Did anyone REALLY believe they would feel like this immediately after the op? I certainly didn't.

Maybe the cookery programmes thing is a brain thing. Your brain trying to tempt you into craving food by making you watch lots of lovely dishes being made lol.

The piece of the stomach they remove on the sleeve operation is the part which releases the hunger hormones. This is one of the reasons you're not wanting food. Also, you're subconciously protecting your body as it's wounded. Just like when we have hurt ourselves we protect the parts we have.

The hunger will return eventually so make the most of this stage whilst you can :)
