sugar free jelly?

Hi,
I'm on day 8 of the milk diet and only lost 5lb, i,ve stuck to it (milk, squash, yogs, oxo) the only thing i have had is a lot SF jelly, would that have any affect on the liver, only after last time (failed bypass) i am soooooooo worried it will happen again xx

I dont think they will, as its only flavourings and gelatine at the end of the day....
Heres a typical nutritional and ingriedients section on a Hartleys sugar free strawberry jelly.
Ingredients:

Gelatine, Acidity Regulator (E331), Citric Acid, Flavouring, Sweeteners (Aspartame, Acesulfame K), Strawberry Juice (1%), Maltodextrin, Colour: Ponceau 4r.
Contains a Source of Phenylalanine.

hi hun i wouldn't worry to much as we all used them on our pre op diet, just a question what did you eat last time to fail the bypass?? have you left these kind of foods out of your diet this time? good luck.

I ate sugar free jelly on the milk diet so I would think you should be ok, hope so fingers crossed your op goes well this time x

i was on the low carb last time, i stuck to it except i ate chewing gum! No chewing gum for me this time

SF jelly was ok for me and I ate a lot of it. Made SF jelly sweets by adding more gelatine and pouring into chocolate sweet moulds.

OMG! I've been chewing gum on my pre op....didnt realise I couldn't. REALLY hope it doesn't effect my op on Wednesday. I have lost 7lbs & 2 days to go!

On my milk diet I'm allowed 3 sticks of gum a day

yes you can,
they open you up and if your liver is not right, they close you back up, the end!!!

There are a few who's liver hadn't shrunk enough so they were closed up and no op done. Must be awful after all you have to go through to get the op in the first place!

Hi holliepop,
Hope you get to read this once you are out of hospital. Hope the op went well, mine was ok...was more painful afterwards than i anticipated but feeling a lot better today once I had a good sleep in my own bed
