Hi All,

I am allowed Sugar Free Squash on my pre op diet, however, I can't find Sugar Free Squash in Tesco, I can only find No Added Sugar. Is this ok to drink?

Brilliant, thank you Paula x

Hi lovely Katy, how are you getting on? Not long for us now hun... arghhhh it is coming around quickly now! Hope you are feeling all good and positive.
xxxxxxx

Hi Caroline, how are you? I'm getting on ok thanks hun, day 1 of pre op diet going ok ish, looking forward to fillet steak and peas tonight (which I am allowed lol). How are you getting on? At the moment I'm really nervous!! How are you feeling? Excited? xxxxx

Hi Caroline,

I note from your stats that you have put your BMI is 33. I too have a low BMI (35) and am wondering if you could share (privately or on this thread) the reason behind you choosing surgery? Mine is purely for fertility reasons and if it eases off my pcos symptoms that will be an added bonus.

I'm just curious as I have only come across one other person who had a low BMI prior to their surgery. I was planning on having the surgery done at the end of June but I won't be able to have it done now till August due to other commitments so until then its on with the research and gathering more intel from people's threads on here.

Thanks
Fraggle.

Hi Fraggle, my BMI is 36. I am choosing to have the surgery because I have intracranial hypertension which causes severe headaches and loosing weight helps that. I was told to apply for NHS funding - which I did - however I decided to pay for it as the process was taking too long. x

Hiya beckaboo, I will definitely let you know. We're you ok after the shunt? Did it help? x

The shunt took a year or so to settle but I've had no problems with it, I had pretty bad pap that wasn't sorted by meds or lumbar punctures so a shunt was my only option. I still get the odd headache but my widget (as I call it) kicks in pretty quick & then I'm fine :) are you on meds to treat it? keep me posted & good luck with your journey xx

Hi Sleevegirl,

That's good to know there is another low BMI surgery person out there!

Can I ask how much weight you need to lose please? My goal is initially 5 stone which gets me to the top end of my healthy BMI. I could lose more ofc and this would make me extremely happy if I did. However, my priority after surgery is get to goal and start TTC.

I have an appointment with fertility consultant next week to discuss my WLS thoughts. Fingers crossed he will not have an issue with this.

Oh that stuff is vile, I had awful pins & needles so I was actually glad to have my shunt! My neurologist recommended I lost weight but at the time I wasn't in the right place in my life to do it! X

Yep pins and needles, feel sick - nasty stuff. So many people hate it. I really hope loosing the weight via wls helps! x

Hiya Fraggle, I too am having my band fitted to try to help me fall pregnant. I have endometriosis and mild pcos, but my fertility specialist has told me neither of them should be affecting me from falling its more likely to be my weight. We had actually saved for IVF but were told it would be more benificial to do this instead and we would prob fall naturally. Fingers crossed. Good luck and I'm here if you want to chat x x

Hiya.
I had a vp shunt fitted about 17 years ago and I still get the headaches from time to time. I don't take any meds as I can't handle the pins and neddles in my feet.
