I went to sunderland royal on wednesday 3Oth march 2011 for presentation. And i asked the bariatric consultant. If we done everything that was asked of us what would be the chance of not getting the operation? He replied you are guaranteed the operation. Has we were there tonight that funding was guaranteed. was i just dreaming he said that.:copon:

hi no you werent dreaming. i have just come home from having my bypass and the seminar seems like such a while ago now. i got told that if i hadnt been granted the funding then i wouldnt have been invited to the seminar. the only time you wont get your op is if you dont meet the targets they set you which arent hard and this is the perfect site to support you on your journey.

good luck.xx

i had my semiar in august 2009 then my next app was in jan 2010 then the one after that was august and then i have just come home today from having my bypass. it seems like a long time but it passes quickly.

dont mean to put a cloud over this but i didnt have funding approved when i had my seminar , my funding wasnt sorted out until just after my first appointment. And funding was easier to get then, they have now changed the guidelines. sorry if this sounds horrible i just think i should let you know what happened to me xxxx

Hi Michelle,
I had my seminar in October and didn't know a thing about funding until I had read posts on this forum.
As I then got myself quite concerned about this as to if I should be doing something about it I phoned my surgery to find out if I needed to apply as the last thing I needed was to get so far along with this and then find out that I should have applied for funding.
Anyway to cut a long story shorter after ringing the surgery and then the P.C.T. I drew a blank..... I found myself getting stress over this and although we were asked not to bother the consultants secretaries with calls I finally gave in and called Mr Smalls secretary and the answer was this...... if you have been invited to attend a seminar then your funding is already in place and the worry was needless.
Hope this has helped.

My seminar was January and I was told that funding was already in place if you'd been invited to attend. Good luck with your journey x

We were told this at our seminar in October last year, that if you were at the seminar you were approved for funding and that you would be having the op (subject of course to meeting targets and you being fit and well physically and mentally to undergo surgery). Mr Small also said at that time that the funding would not be pulled even if the surgery took place 14-18 months in the future (which was the average at that time).

Also tod that by mr small that if u at seminar funding was in place but as with pct/nhs nothing is 100% just highly likely to go ahead if that makes sense!

once you have a seminar date funding will be there for your surgery x

Fantastic news! Nice one! :) let us know what happens? Mine is booked for 10th May so it would be good to have some idea of what happens.

this is all good news as I have had my seminar and am now going to my first appointment on the 20th May. Hopefully by the end of next year I will have had the op and we will be looking forward to the new me and new challenges to be achieved.

Hello, I'm from billingham too and Mr Balupuri is doing my surgery tomorrow. It would be nice if we could share support and in a few months maybe meet for coffee. I'd love to meet and chat to someone in the same boat as me.
Katie xx
