Supersize teen can`t stop eating

me 3

I've had to set video for it as hubby has a sore head and needs the sofa to sleep on. Mind you it didn't help he walked in just as they were 'forcing' the instruments in to start the keyhole surgery!!!

Evil family lol they all sitting eating what looks like boxes of KFC while she is having slops

she was eating blended KFC.... :|

.x.

I have really mixed feelings about giving children WLS. On the one hand, adolescence is such a horrible time for all teens let alone obese ones. Also, I can buy what one of the surgeons said about changing eating patterns early on.

On the other hand, this huge change in lifestyle in one so young. The girl who had a band was a bit older and had more gumption I think. She also had a really supportive Mum. The girl who had the by-pass seemed young even for 13 - her family clearly loved her - but getting a huge bucket of KFC and then liquidising it was not a good start.

They both lost a good amount of weight and seemed happy - although the by-pass girl did seem to be mourning the loss of her relationship with food.

What are other people's thoughts on this?

Interesting that after 6 month they had both lost the same amount of weight. 6 stone. However, when you look at it from %age of excess weight the bander lost more. It just goes to show how the way you use your tool really has a massive effect on what happens. The Bypass teen was eating blended KFC after a week. Would that make her dump?

purreed food for 3 months is a hell of a long time compared to here in england, usa has a more harsh programe to follow:eek:

I felt so sorry for her when she sat with her family who were tucking into a KFC. How insensitive and unsupportive is that at such an early stage!?

I was also surprised that she had to be on sloppies for 3 months.

The other thing that surprised me was the fact that they seemed unprepared and not very knowledgeable. The fact that they had no idea what was wrong when she couldn't keep anything down was a bit odd. I would have expected them to realise her band was too tight - I was shouting it at the screen!

Margaret....Like you and the many others I too also thought the family could have been a bit better on the choice of food they were having.I found the whole programme thought creating to my own condition and it really brings it all home "what's in store"....
I would really love to hear from others who know doubt thought long and hard about surgery and then "Post op" as it appears to me once the surgery is done and your home the real hard work and realisation sink in and also the family have a massive part to play in helping.I accept that nothing comes easy you "really" want in life and for me although I enjoy food it has also made me a prisoner and miss out on so many things.....
Given that this procedure is ONE WAY ONLY I would like to know once my body settles down post-op what type of foods/diet will I have to adopt?????????????????????

"Sorry to drone on every one but all these nagging questions popped in to my head"............................

I'm so glad I didn't watch that pre op or I'd have been running for the hills when they started going on about the death rates and how bypass in particular affected your overall health post op. They made a big thing about the hair loss but didn't mention that was only temporary. They didn't mention that the majority of people having this type of surgery also have other health problems. I thought it was a bit of scaremongering mixed with bad research.

To be honest I was also uncomfortable with the whole thing. From a personal point of view me having this op at 50yrs old is the last straw after years of trying everything else. How can an immature 13yr old possibly have exhausted all other options? She has so much growing to do both mentally and physically.
