Surgery abroad and sick pay

Hi guys

I wondered for those of you who have gone abroad for surgery, how did you deal with sick pay from your employer?

My employer requires hospital discharge papers and appointment letters etc and I'm worried I won't get those if I go to Czech Republic.

I have told my company that my dr has referred d me for surgery, but this has been declined by Nhs, therefore I am having to pay privately, but I haven't told them what the surgery is for or that I'm thinking of going abroad.

Any advice?

Can your gp not provide you with the sick note? Regardless of private or public you are still not fit for work.

I'm not sure if he would for the surgery, I presume he would afterwards but concerned he might not if I tell him I went abroad?

He should, especially if he was willing to refer you in the first place. Can't hurt to ask right?

I had no problems getting a sick note from my GP, he just put post op recovery on it.
