how long after surgery did you all have to wear your stockings x

I only wore mine for 7 days. The same length of time as I was taking the heparin injections. However I was very low risk for DVT. some people might be at higher risk. I think the hospital advice was to wear for several weeks.

28 days for stockings and claxine injections...thank goodness that's done!!

For my band op, was told to wear them for 10-14 days post surgery, and if I was up and fully active at 10 days it would be ok to remove them.

my claxine injections are for ten days i am very active im always on the go in fact im nearly back to my normal self x

I only had to wear mine for the 4 days after surgery, and then because I was up and about walking etc., they said I didn't need them anymore!! Strange how hospitals are so different in their policys

I wore mine for two hours post op Then anaethesiologist said they were too tight, gave me cool squidgy things and then I didn't have any by the second day post op. But was up and active.

I have had a DVT before. I wonder if that will affect the time I will have to wear mine for!


It seems as though it varies from hospital to hospital though.

I was told to try to wear mine for about 2 weeks, was told by the nurse it all depends on the anesthesiologist some don't like their patients wearing them at all! I'll be happy enough to take mine off earlier if I'm as active as normal and once i've stopped my injections!
