Hiya

At our seminar they told us that thigh swelling was common and recommended compression garments which cover thighs as well. If yours don't do that, maybe it's worth trying some? If they do and you are worried, are you able to call the hospital?

Hope you feel better soon

Hi hun

I found the follwoing on the tinternet - all sounds normal but if you are worried get it checked out x

  1. Bruising and initial swelling are variable but can last up to three or four weeks. However it is important to remember that subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) swelling will take up to 6 months to fully settle.
  2. Please wear your support garment for 4-6 weeks following surgery, taking it off for only short periods. This will help limit any swelling that may arise. Despite this however, it is still possible to develop some fluid build-up beneath the skin which occasionally needs to be drained with a needle. This will be assessed at your follow-up visit.

Hi,

Don't worry, this is perfectly normal. I am 12 weeks post op, and despite wearing my compression garment for 9 weeks solid, my thighs and tummy are still swolen. Despite having 5lbs of flesh removed, I am around 6lbs heavier than before my op, which can be a little upsetting, but is to be expected. My surgeon said that they expect patients to be anything up to 1 stone heavier up to 6 months post op

Hope this helps
Clair x
