You should be able to take them normally. Before breaking them up however, check that the ones you're taking can be. Some have a special coating or slow release which breaking up or crushing could change. Check with the pharmacist
I was told no tablets after surgery, with I had known they were ok' on soluble co codamol and they are disgusting!! I'm going to try my nytol tablets now! Thought I might have to wait till solid stage! U are a bander?xx
Yes you can take tablets post band and there is no risk of them not being absorbed. However if you have been advised not to you should really double check with your provider.
I was given soluble pain killers just after my op but still took my pill etc.

Yes I am a bander, they gave me soluble tablets for discharge for pain killers, but I suffer from chronic migraines and needed to know I was ok to take my tablets and much stronger pain killers that they gave me, ones which cannot be broken or crushed. But I did check with my provider that I was ok to take them before I hit the mash or solid stage. Do check with them though and if they say you can't or that you need to crush/break, check with a pharmacist that the ones you take can be
Do you think the pharmacy will swap my soluble tablets over to normal tablets then? They make me gag!!! I only asked for soluble because I was told I needed liquid form by thg! Gutted! Or will I have to go back to doctors? Thanks for all the advice guys x
I wouldn't have thought so if that was what was prescribed. Worth checking with the provider and seeing the GP if needed.
They suggested to me of mixing the soluble ones in with fruit squash or fruit juice. My provider also gave me soluble iron which on its own was vile, but mixed with ribena was rather nice lol although I tend to mix any soluble ones with as little as water as possible so I can just get it down in as least amount as poss lol
Yeah I agree it's a lot better with squash! It's just so annoying not being able to gulp anything! I could of downed it all in one and it wouldn't be a problem, but those days are over be worth it in the end! Can't wait for my meeting with the dietitian and actually finding out all the dos and donts!!x
