I'm having my sleeve done in 5 weeks and i'm so worried about the eating part of things.
I'm a big eater, didn't get to 32 stone on tiny portions and i'm worried about wanting to eat everything in sight and being able to resist it.

What's it like when you first get home?

how strong does your willpower need to be?

can you physically not eat it even if you wanted it?

Hi Sarah
Dont worry about wanting to eat everything in sight, when they do the sleeve it does something to your appetite, i have to remind myself to eat, i started out at 27 stone and there is no problems.
Concentrait on fluids first then work up to your solids follow the advice from your health care proffs .
Please dont stress about how you are going to be it all falls into place. So hold on tight cause you are about to start the most exciting ride of your life. And we will make room on the losers bench soon enough

Thanks von, how are things going with yourself?

Your appetite will be cut dramatically, the amount of Grehlin is reduced hence the smaller appetite. I have to force myself to eat sometimes!

weird!!! but in a good way i'm guessing. i've got such a huge appetite, i'm just so worried about messing it all up. Thanks for the replies and putting my mind at ease x

hi i was 27 stone when i ad my op a month ago now just over 24 stone and its all true i was a massive eater and now food which was my best friend is a last thought its so the best thing i have ever done and would do it again tomorrow

Sarah, I had the bypass so they didn't remove the Grehlin in my case. Even so I am amazed how unaffected by food I am now. I know it's only 8 days since the op but I'm just not tempted at all. I got those leaflets through the door today from the local supermarkets with all the offers in it. I had a look through and did some self righteous tutting at how all the offers are on high fat food. A few weeks ago I would have been turning cartwheels at the sight of half price Ben and Jerries lol. It really is like a switch has been clicked in my head. I'm not daft enough to think this will always be the case but right now I'm thrilled to feel this way. Don't worry hon, you're going to be fine xx

Sarah wait till you have a couple of spoons of food and realise you don't need or want anymore, it will happen believe me :) xx

especially when it's puree yuck.

wow, it's so hard to imagine, but i will take everyones word for it. Under 5 weeks to go now and i'll be all sleeved up x
